Paul Samwell-Smith of the Yardbirds was the first. It's 1965, little 13 year-old me gets their "For Your Love" album, and when the second track "I'm Not Talking" came up, my head spun around about 5 times. An extremely vivid memory of the exact moment that I became a bass player.Who was the first bassist that really turned your head? Who was that first guy that dropped such badass bottom on you, that you practically couldn't hear anything else?
