WHOA. Gretsch White Falcon?

I've heard of the Gretsch White Falcon guitar, about how rare it is, blah blah, but the pictures of the white falcon BASS just blow me away. Does anyone have any more information on it? Anyone played it? Anyone OWN it? My local guitar shop has one, but I don't think I've earned enough respect to play a $3,600 bass.

Well I've got a Gretsch Broadkaster Bass, which probably sounds very similar to a White Falcon. Tonally, it's ok - not the worst sounding hollowbody bass I've ever played but not the best either. Pups are kind of weak on mine, so I have no doubt a Pup replacement (TV Jones, for example) would be an improvement. Aesthetically, there's no comparison. Gretsch makes the most beautiful looking instruments on the planet.

Yeah, any newer Gretsch that doesn't have TV Jones pickups benefits greatly from having TV Jones pickups added....

I have been eyeballing CTB's White falcon in the classifieds for a while, and aside from my budget the only thing holding me back is the gold hardware. I just can't get into it. If I was in a rockabilly band I'd hit it though!

Gretsch pickups have low output, is the nature of the beast.
I've not played this bass version but I have played a lefty white falcon guitar - nice guitar but my memory of it was it was a neck diver..

of course, that's what facilitated the young brian setzer (in stray cats) slinging the guitar behind his back and doing the finger-snap solo :p

anyone who suffer from neck dives are welcome to ship me their gretsch instruments, i'll pay for shipping :hiding:

seriously, though, i probably wouldn't want a bigsby on mine, but i'd love an f-hole bass, gretsch design being my favorite.

i wonder what scale-length those are.

I think it's 34 inch scale. I can hardly find any information at all on the internet.

I don't know where any reviews might be, but I have only heard great things about TV Jones ThunderTron pickups
