Who's everyone's favorite bassists?

Currently, the bassist with the 5 string MTD on the Emerald Princess cruise through New England / Nova Scotia. I've heard him every night and he is so tasteful. 80's, country, R&B, classic pop, new pop, Motown. Gets great sounds out of both a GK and Ampeg combos.

No bassist ever made me smile at the idiocy I've endured as a bassist as much as Derek Smalls.

There are so many bassists I love that I do not want to try and mention them all. I do feel a special affinity with Marcus Miller because we about seven months apart. I like to think that I might be 30% of the bassist he is if I had trained seriously and consistently for years starting at the beginning of my musical journey. Daryl Jones, the late Victor Bailey, John Patitucci, Andrew Gouche, and Fred Hammond were also all time born within two years of me and make me think of what might have been.😎

Thought long and hard. And the best I can come up with is if I'm listening to someone playing the bass clean and tight, then that's my favourite bassist . Can't see what's fun about listening to someone pouring their heart out and thinking "Yeah but they're not as good as Captain Sensible." Which is not the same as saying all bassists are equal. But most of them have some value.

And if I did want to think one is the objective best possible low ender, expect I'd still be chopping and changing just as much, anyway.
