Who's kicking off 2023 with new strings?

Just for fun I wonder if anyone else has spent Jan 1st stringing up a fresh set to start the year. I oiled my fretboard and tried SIT strings for the first time. The jury is still out on how I'm going to like them vs my standard go to strings but they did settle in very fast and held pitch much better than most strings when new. But who else has new strings for '23?

The Mrs got me some LaBellas for my SG bass that went on today, along with a good fretboard cleaning/oiling and a setup for the new strings. Starting the year off right.

That's an awesome Mrs. to get you strings! Did she get you flats or the rounds?

Something I noticed with the Rock brights is that they are starting to get really nice. I would compare them to Dr lo riders in overall sound and feel. LaBella RX would be similar as well. I think they've been compared to rotosound swing bass but I think they are less grabby and closer to lo riders. Just me. Nice strings though.

I do... the MIM Precision, the G&L SB-2T and possibly the Sadowsky are getting some form of DR and or GHS set on them, soon.

I've played Dr and ghs and both of those seem to hold up for a long time. I still have my old set of hi beams stashed away in case I need a set to throw on something. They won't break no matter how much I re string them.

Not me - I'm actually enjoying a relatively old set of DR Sunbeams - I think they are about 10 months, been playing them a lot - I had to check my account at juststrings.com! Between my Tech21 MP40 and thwacking the strings with my fingers I don't feel like I need to change strings yet...

I didn't think about it until I read this post but, um, yeah... I probably should re-string my Fender Jazz because I literally can't remember when I put the strings that are on it now lol. It must be years at this point... probably Dean Markley SR2000's from like 10 years ago... yikes. (yeah this bass doesn't get played much anymore but I think I'll start taking it out more often for this new year just because I feel bad now.)

I'm typically a flats player, but I ordered the SIT silencers semi flatwounds to try on my jazz. Hopefully they're good!

I have a set of Labella Black nylon tape wounds on the way for my new Höfner violin bass . My P Bass has a set of Pyramid Gold flats on it that are not coming off anytime soon .

I got a set of Pure Blues in my Christmas stocking. None of my basses need new strings however so I'll just save them for when they do.

Side note; uncharacteristically, I have not changed the strings (DR Sunbeams) on my Lull M4V for going on 3 years now and I find I really like the sound of them on that bass. So, that one is definitely going to stay unchanged as long as those old strings continue to sound good.

FWIW, I do have other basses that get new strings more often than the Lull.

I have been using D'addario XL forever but I have started using SIT nickel strings on a couple of may basses and I'm really liking them. I like that they are a bit stiffer then The D'addario's.

Not me chaps . 3 basses with Roto 88s on and one with LaBella Jamersons . Don't think I'll be changing any of 'em in this lifetime .
