Who's never played through a real SVT ?

Not what I'd call a real one, just the more recent attempts to make something that looks like a real one. Not impressed. Never even SEEN a real one in a store. I'm figuring if it has a "-" and/or any letters or numbers after it in the name, it's not a real one. Unless maybe the letter is V and the number is 9, but that's not really the same thing either.
Yet. Heard several vintage ones played by others though. They are wonderful.
Never played Ampeg at all. And I'm not interested either. They're solid allright. But somehow all bassists I heard playing through them sound a bit dull and boring to my ears. 
Same goes for Fender stuff.

I've never played through a "real SVT". I've only played through SLM era SVT CL heads and Loud Tech. era SVT CL heads. I would love to play through an original SVT or Magnavox era SVT. I'd even settle for the VR series!

A "real" one.And have owned a few Ampeg pieces.I never could dial in a tone I liked.But thats just me..listen to Victor or any of those guys they sound great. But to me a bit muddy and monotone.I always went back to SWR..and is where I have stayed. SO Ampeg folk don't get riled up again..thats just MY take on it.

What is a "real" SVT?
Is a new SVT-CL or SVT-VR a "real" SVT?
I have always had a SVT ('70's, '80's and now a 2000 version) and love the tone.
Anyone that bashes them without trying one (or says they sound boring) are nuts. Try one on a gig and afterwards say it sucks if you don't like it. There is a reason that 90%+ of touring musicians use one.
Don't feel bad, fellas. Go to Guitar Center and try out a CL or a VR through an 8x10, and join the club. These are every bit a REAL SVT as anything from the 70's IMO, despite all the hype and nostalgia surrounding the Ampeg/Magnavox-era.
i've never played through one. they sound good, but they are way out of my price range. i've never run across one used when i have been looking for amps, and i am pleased enough with my current rig that i don't have any amp GAS.
Ive never played through an original SVT (that is what you are asking, right?) but the repairman that just fixed my SVT-III has a (I think) 69 SVT from when Ampeg was in NJ. He has to do some work on it but he told me he would let me play it once he gets it up and running again.
Personally, I played through a new SVT Classic recently and it sounded great! I would be more than happy to rock one of these.
