The simple answer is because it is the internet, and people have different opinions. They "hate" it because they do, and they express themselves semi-anonymously on internet bulletin boards and comment sections because they can. If you only want to hear opinions from people who agree with you, stay off the internet and surround yourself with sycophants.

OP, you've answered most of it. But the other part is, some people are hypersenstive and treat anything less than foaming-at-the-mouth adulation of their favorite person or thing as "hate." Most of the "why all the hate?" threads on TB leave me rolling my eyes.
