Why are most short scale demos played with a pick??

I play my shorties with fingers 90% of the time and picks for different attack and tone depending on the song. Same with my longies. Why demo folks do it, well, who knows why they do what they do?
I undeestand that, but I just dont understand why every demo I have tried to watch for the past 2 days is played only with a pick. I find it very unprofessional, and I only just started trying to play, but reall. . Comon sence...
I just binged watch a couple of vids and of five I looked at all five were picks. Weird.

I have no idea but I never pay much attention to the tone on any review videos anyway since they give me no idea how it will sound when I play them so I prefer to try them for myself. Another secondary reason is I use nylon tapes. Good luck finding bass reviews where nylon tapes are used.
I use fingers only on all my basses, long, short or sub-short scale. I'll use a pick and fingers when playing guitar but never a pick on bass.

I play mostly with fingers, but I wouldn't want to be the one to tell Chris Squire, Macca, or Carol Kaye that it is "unprofessional" to play with a pick.
Hey, hey... you got it wrong! I said playing bass ONLY with a pick in a DEMO is unprofessional, and I stand still behind this statement, no matter who the player is
So playing only with a pick is "unprofessional"? I guess since I only play with a pick now a demos with only fingers should seem "unprofessional" to me?
The first few hits of a YouTube search for "short scale bass" turned up a LOT more demos with fingers than with the pick.

Ok guys!!! Dont twist my words around. I didnt say theres something wrong wirh a pick!!! Although I hate hearing bass played with a pick, I kept that to myself UNTIL NOW, since you anyway responed to me as if I did!!!@
You cant hear the full sound of the bass listening to it only played with a pick. I have only started to play, and you can play 50 years but you wouldnt convince me what I say is not true.
Its not about tast its about hearing the full sound range!!

These guys do the best demo's that I've seen....
Both pick and fingers used....Thorough description of the bass and, in this case, a tasty version of Zep's 'No Quarter' to finish...
