Why can't I find a filter pedal that I like?

Has anyone tried the Wonderlove/enigma Qballs on upright? I currently have an old EHX Microsynth, and trying to get a fuzz/octavey sound for the upright....any advice from the group?
the fuzz octave/low pass filter sound is what I get from the eh bass microsynth, on electric though. I will say the boss oc3 has a cool fuzzy octave/synth setting that might work, you can get the sound used on Gwen Stefani song "hella good" with this setting

I tried a dozen filters before stumbling upon the EHX Polyphase. Obviously it's a phaser, NOT a filter, but the effect is similar on the "envelope" setting (it also does standard LFO-controlled phase shift OR responds to an expression pedal) and it does a very decent job of bringing the funk without the volume issues I've had with every filter that had any life to it.
Pigtronix make envelope phasers too. It's another option...

Awesome! I don't feel so alone here, anymore.

Ahm, my advice is somebody should send us each one, and then after we've played around with them for a few months, we both report back here with our findings: Pizz/Slap/Arco...
