This is kind of a half amp half effect question.

My amp was humming our buzzing or whatever you want to call it. Why did it disappear when I plugged in though my MXR bass di + distortion?

I don't really have a problem, just wondering if anybody can explain it to me.

Yes there is a hum when nothing is plugged in and it gets worse when I plug my pedalboard in. I just happened to put the mxr di on my board and it stopped.

That is quite bizarre. This is well over my paygrade, sorry. I am really curious to hear why this may be though.

Does it stop if you just use the DI + distortion only without the rest of the board?

Well I'm stumped then. Enjoy the happy accident. Does it do it with just the bass plugged in?
Yeah it does it with just the bass plugged in. It's not as bad with just the bass plugged in, but it's just bad enough to be annoying. I was getting ready to put the MXR into storage. I'm glad I didn't.

DIs usually have an isolation transformer. Iso tranfmrs go a long way towards mitigating most hum issues.
