Why did you start playing bass?

ha ha - all of the above -

even though I was the best musician, I liked being in the back rather than the front.

I liked making the rest of the band sound good.

I liked being the guy who made the groove.

I was a technical geek and liked the watts/ohms stuff.

Me have strong fingers and make good sound on slab of wood.
 
Years ago my mates and I decided to form a rock band. Me bieng sleightly introvert ended up with the extrovert guys saying they will play guitar and the other said drums so I was left with bass. At the time I figured "bass is sorta more in the background" so I was comfortable with that. Got an Ibanez gsr200 for xmas and played over my hifi :D
None of the guy still playing their chosen instrument. two of them never even realy started...
To cut a story short; it was the best decission I ever made :)
