Why do guitarists get all the cool looking gear?

Because on average they spend two to three times as much on their gear AND there are a lot more of them.

We need to start requiring ALL new bands to have at least two bass players. Three would be "perfect bass" (pardon the pun! ) Lead bassist, rhythm bassist and bass bassist!

(For the record, I'm just ribbing you, but I still fail to grasp how GK could ever be even remotely analogous to a mullet... different strokes for different folks, I guess )

on a plus side, i think basses look muh better than guitars in many cases. modern basses look good, where modern guitars just poke people's eyes out.

im thinking of some of basses with laminate necks and bodies.

I doubt I'd ever buy one of these, but dang, look at that thing! A 1952 Ampeg 815 Bassamp! What were these? 18 watts? And check out how the knobs have speedometer cables running from them to the pots mounted on the chassis at the bottom of the cab! I hear these actually sound pretty good, a lot more hi-fi than you'd expect. More of a curiosity in this day and age, but still fun.

I love those amps, personally, I want an amp to just amplify my signal and not color my tone at all. Then I can use external processors to change the tone when I want. To me, EQ on the Bass and the amp is too much, I would prefer one centralized EQ.

So you're a Communist when it comes to EQ'ing...?
