Why do people bash ibanez basses?

i've had EDC, i've had BTB..

Once you adjust the neck the way you want it.. no more adjustment till the end of the universe..

noisy electronics ? hell yeah ! that's what a bass is for...to make noise, and lots of it !!

Tighy stringspacing is just like a blonde chick with big boobs..either you love it, or you hate it.
Personally i like tight spacing... you can play a lot faster if the strings are pretty close to eachother, and it's pure pleasure for picking.

look at it as a challenge.. if you can play a low-end ibanez correctly, you can play just about anything !

and just for the record.. no i am not an official ibanez endorsee (...YET ! mhuahahah !! :D :D )

i had an sr400...not a bad bass. a bit muddy maybe, but very puncy, and certainly not bad for a beginniner. When i first started i liked the tight string spacing...

my next bass was an sr1200. played better, sounded better, but had 2 serious problems:

1)the output jack was complete crap and no amount of screwing with it on my part fixed it

2)the most unstable neck ever. it was a maple/wenge/maple/wenge/maple neck through...just about everytime it would rain or have a large temperature change the neck would just freak out.

about the time i started getting really upset with the above two things i also started disliking the narrow string spacing.

so, the reason i bash them is not sound or playability (i think theyre perfect in these departments for a beginner), but the fact that if youre at all serious you need an instrument which isnt gonna be completely different hour to hour.

I love soundgears. but all i own are Fender P-basses. The sound gears get a cool click that can cut though metal, while still having that scoopmids sound alot of people like. ive heard people say there only good with scooped mids. but ive found that not to be the case. they dis them because of the string spacing. i bless them for it. awesome idea. not having to reach over to texas to play your high string. As far as the ibanez brand go, i just played a ibanez BTB 510 (God like finish, Natrual Mahogney) And now i want it. My band has changed. so has the sound i wanted. MUST HAVE BTB! ...........

Listen, I am marking up web pages right now. I am making HTML pages out of library catalogues. This is a really boring thing to do, but I get well paid for it.

The only way I can handle the sheer dreariness of this work is by drinking solidly while doing it, and stopping to surf now and then.

So anything I post is likely to be silly.

Don't no one take offence, OK?

I bought an SR400 a few years ago, then when back and bought an SR305, now I'm quite curious about the BTB serious, so Ibanez must be doing something right, at least in my eyes. I like Ibanez because they are light weight, a breeze to play, punchy pre-amps, great finishes, great bodies, and have fast necks. Hmm, if you look at what I said, most of it's subjective. That's the problem with bashers, they bash based on their own subjectiveness and hold their opinions to be the only answer. Also, not just here, but in my travels of music, people look down on your lower end gear, and never take the time to realize: MAYBE YOU DON'T HAVE 2 or 3 F***ING GRAND TO DROP ON A WARWICK. :rolleyes:

As long as an instrument generally stays in tune, doesn't have grounding problems, doesn't have a bowing neck, ect. I think it all becomes subjective to the player. It's cool to not like a certain peice of gear for a reason, but I hate it when people say product X is a piece of crap, just because they don't like features on it, that are subjective.

Most people's subjectiveness is based upon experience.
I have tried out quite a bit of basses in the 13 years I have been playing. I don't turn my nose up at Ibanez because of features... I turn it up because I expect better quality, even from that price range.
I don't compare them to Warwicks because there is no comparison to be made.
After hearing so many players complain about poor set up and twisting necks... and seeing it for myself... I stay clear of Ibanez for myself.

I do have to say that those BTB's are the best basses that Ibanez have made thus far. What is their price range? Around a grand aren't they? They might compare to the lower priced Warwicks but I really think that top end Ibanez's should offer more bang for the buck. Side by side with a mid priced Warwick Fortress Masterman I know that even the mighty BTB pales in comparison.

That goes on construction, sound and versatility.

As for the lowest of the Warwicks I would have to say that the BTB's probably blow them away. I hate the cheapo block o' wood warwicks and yes, they are very lacking. But Ibanez should try even more for a top of the line studio quality bass that doesn't have someone else's signature on it.

After all, look at the Peavey Cirrus! Kudos to Peavey for making a great bass like that.

I guess you can look at it this way: Most high end Luthiers start at the top end first and then work at making more affordable basses that don't sacrafice so much quality.
Ibanez started at the very bottom and have tried to produce a more expensive instrument throughout their history. Peavey started the same way, but I don't think Ibanez have quite made it as far as them yet. The BTB is very close though.

i've played several soundgears, and several ergodynes (luthite body)
i thought each of them was a well-made instrument, had a cool contemporary sound, and played very nice

now, as far as throwing one into the fireplace...
i think the soundgears will have a nice woodburny, incense smell

where the composite luthites might kill your pets, or make you high!!!!! :eek:

I beg to differ. Not only because there's only perhaps 2 Fenders that cost even close to $3000, but because a lot of the cheaper ones have full credibility to outplay the others.
