Why Do People Play With SWRs

Okay, here it goes again. One man said something sucks, and dozens of others immediately feel righteous and feel they urge to tell in the same politcorrect words that he shouldn't have done so. Isn't it boring, people? Well, he said SWR sucks, so what? He expressed his own opinion, and to me, there's no much difference in what words he said this. He cannot express someone else's opinions, anyway, so it's sorta excessive to put "IMHO" after each sentence. If you don't agree with him, then that's it, nothing more, he can't harm you anyhow.
What makes flame is not that one only message that says something sucks, but dozens of other messages, ironizing in the same boring way about it. Is it about music?
Just tired of politcorrectness. It's a hoax. In my humble opinion.

Not as boring as posts that point this out !!;)

He obviously just wanted to stir up trouble amongst the SWR owners and then anyone who doesn't live in the USA - well he got his way! I was just planning on ignoring any threads like this. But it's interesting how people in the US feel they can post any sort of inane put-down or abuse and then say :

"Hell this is the US, we have free speech don't we - I have a right to my opinion!"

So I have to put up with any old rubbish, just because you have free speech....how about consideration for others, what about the rights of the "listener" not to be bombarded with crap? I say let's stand up for the rights of the silent majority and down with verbal diarrhoea!

...and not as boring as posts that point out the posts that point it out... ;-)
Exactly, diarrhea. But look, what makes up the bulk of this megathread? Not the messages that "point it out"? It's just interesting to observe how the "silent majority" starts to peck... is it silent after it? Well, from the more general viewpoint, the rights contradict, I believe there is no justness :-/
Okay, okay, I also shouldn't write this, I know.

Could you try that again?

I really couldn't figure out what your point here is or who or what you are talking about. I'm not trying to be rude.

To all on the point of free speach - remember that this is a private board and that we are allowed to share our opinions at the discression of the owners and the moderators of this board. So you cannot say anything you want, in fact you are quite limited - only to Bass topics. As a further point, most of the commentators have not told anyone here they should be muzzled, just that they should use proper nettiquette when posting.

I totally agree with you indie...this guy bass turd was just expressing his opinion. That should go without the preface of IMHO, or whatever. If you don't agree, then he can go to hell for all you (or I) care.

I can't stand Ampeg because there is no definition to the sound. I love Hartke. Ampeg sucks. Hartke rules (my personal opinion for illustration purposes only, for those of you anal pricks out there).

I don't expect anyone to argue with me on this, even though you probably will, because it is what I think. You don't have to think it, but I do, and that's just how it is. If you want to argue, fine, but I'm just going to have a kind of F*ck off attitude because I like what I like and you like what you like. I probably won't even grace you with a response.

The bulk of this thread is not what bass turd said, but a bunch of SWR owners or proponents feeling like they have to stand up for their amps. Newsflash...you don't!!! If you like the sound, and it gets you and your fans off, that's all you need.

Nevertheless, you are entitled to voicing your opinion about whatever amp you want. I'm just afraid you are wasting your time talking to closed ears when you could be doing something worthwile, such as practicing or gigging.

That goes for bass turd as well as the rest of you, and myself for that matter. Excuse me while I go do something that most of us on this forum seem to have neglected to do as we are typing away about our amps...I'm gonna go practice playing bass.

It's somewhat like "we have pluralism, and there can't be TWO opinions about THAT" ;)
I don't actually mind feeling among friends, but I do mind making public enemies in a paranoic kind of way. I doubt very much there's this many sick people urging just to "stir up trouble". E.g., I'm not American, but I would never even have a thought Bassturd had the malicious intention to offend me, as someone suggested. Similarly, I doubt I would be offended if I loved SWR. He said to his taste SWR sucks, not that SWR owners suck, or anything else personal. And I think we must respect readers of our posts, i.e. assume that they have their own heads and will think for themselves, and hence take our posts critically.
Sorry for my posing as a peacemaker ;)

Ok, come on people, let's all get along here. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, and while I don't necessarily agree with the poster's (as you can see from my post), that doesn't mean that this has to degenerate into a flame war (which it's on the verge of). I think that basically, the original question has been answered, so let's all forgive and forget, ok?

BTW, for anyone who hasn't noticed or read the forum rules, Paul has posted them at the top of the forum page (no this isn't aimed at anyone, I'm just pointing them out since I just noticed them myself).

Bassturd, you really shouldnt come in here and say SWR or any other company sucks, Its all a matter of personal preferences. I havent played an SWR head that would make me want to buy one yet, or an ampeg for that matter but Im not saying that either brand sucks, because they dont. Your comment about it sounding like someone put a blanket over it having a muffeld sound is acceptable, but you just out right saying they suck is just wrong, its rude, and disrepectful to the ppl on the boards that own SWR. In my 15 years of bass playing Ive seen many brands that I dont like and lack in the tonal characteristic that I look for but will never say they suck, unless its a really cheap guitar like palmer or harmony or perhaps a gorilla amp. But I think most people in here would agree to that. By the way I use Hartke heads with Carvin Cabs, Even though I get compliments all the time on my sound my gear must suck too.

Like the man said, someones Tobias is someones else's Hondo. Truth be known your touch on your instrument through that cord into that amp is yours alone. There's a tale in an old issue of Bass Player Mag about a string bass player who wondered if he should get a new bass cause he wasn't getting "his sound". Miroslav Vitous sat in with his band and played his upright. To this bassist's surprise Miroslav sounded like Miroslav. What did this guy learn?
The one SWR comment I will make is(I've been playing bass for 36 years) that when I'm performing it's the first amp I've had that I don't have to turn around and wonder what's going on. Tone controls flat and kickin' it up on the one. (Though SVTs are for a certain sound that some people need for certain styles of music.)
