I think its B#, not C, actually
So I've been wondering a lot lately at why people actually think metalcore, post-hardcore, etc. are good. I just don't understand how people can think that open E's and breakdowns are musically talented. All it takes is a monkey to hit an open E a bunch of times, and every breakdown is that same. The screaming doesn't help either, just makes it even worse, and you can't even understand what they're saying. Someone please explain to me why people have this mind set.![]()
What do you mean open E? What metalcore band isn't downtuning these days anyway?

Lol a friend of mine showed me this picture. I thought it was hilarious. and on that picture, if it was a 5-string bass, it would say bass solo...B, B, B, B, B, B, B. Lol
Why would anyone like jazz!? Its just a bunch of people with instruments playing random notes and chords that don't even make sense!
I'm talking about metal bands like Asking Alexandria, Pierce the Wrist, like that. I don't understand honestly why people think they are good. Ask myself every day. I mean open E string whatever tuning they decide to have it in.

This thread is having a.... BREAKDOWN!!!!
^ He is chugging the open E in different rhythmic variations as we speak.
:scowl:
Jazz only doesn't make sense to people who have no background in theory! I can understand where your coming from though, I had a hard time appreciating jazz until I really got into reading and theory. Now jazz (and fusion) is all I play!
hmmm...that is pretty gross generalization. I know that most of my friends who love jazz have absolutely NO musical background, let alone musical theory background.
My dad was a jazz drummer in the 50's and 60's...and had no melodic music theory background
Sounds to me that the core genre is being butchered on the count of genres like metalcore and crabcore(more like crapcore. lol). apparently it's been over used by douchebag musicians who thinks they're the greatest thing since sliced bread, but really they suck. anywho, to answer your question, it's the same reason why mainstream music fans likes today's pop music. it's what's popular. basically metalcore and all those other poor excuse of core bands are just a fad. one day they're popular, the next day they're not. everyone has their own opinions and views on metalcore. I personally don't see the big whoop about this genre. to me, it nothing more than a talentless punk's desperate attempt to be metal and hardcore. they should of taken lessons from metal bands like black label society, pantera, anthrax, testiment, iced earth, etc. those bands make real music.
