Why do so many ppl hate Fieldy

I am an American (capital A).
I don't like crap.
I don't like Fieldy.
I don't hate him either, I have never met him.
I could outplay him in my sleep.
I do not begrudge him a dime that he has made.
But please quit calling him a bassist.
He is a bass player, there is a big difference.

you people are right in that fieldy's lines suit korns style of music. there are crap lines hence crap music but thats just my opinion i could be wrong
Filedy isn't even a bass player. He's more of one those kids that gets handed a percussion rythm instrument in an elementary school band, like perhaps a clicker.

I personally like Fieldy, and I like Korn. Just because what he records is simple doesn't mean that he is not a good bassist (and yes, he is a bassist). What do you want him to do? Throw some Jaco style bass lines into Korn's music? How stupid would that sound? Give the guy some credit for coming up with bass lines and a sound that connect and flow well with Korn's unconventional style. Its a task that I bet the majority of people here on TalkBass couldn't do.
that sound like a challenge and i would bet all of my money that the majority of the people here at talk bass not only could come up with a bass line suitable for korn's "unconventional" sound but could make a line better and do it in while comatose
Here I'll try, just give me a minute to put on puma sneakers, lower my strap, and detune my bass to the point it sounds like an elastic band hitting a kleenex box.

Has anyone ever heard Fieldy's old band, LAPD? He never used the "clickity clack clack" stuff in LAPD. I like his older LAPD stuff. LAPD also shows Munky's more expressive guitar style, other than just simple drop-tuned really low power chords. You can probably find LAPD stuff on Napster, I recomend their song "Listen"
For the record, I own all Korn albums except for "Life is Peachy" I certainly didn't buy those albums for Fieldy's playing style, but I used to love that kind of music (I still listen to them every now and then)
Ibanez has Head and Munky signature series guitars, should we expect a Fieldy signature SDGR too?

Non-clicky Fieldy? Are you sure it's the same guy? This is something which must be investigated.
I have to admit, I like some stuff by Korn. But, I do not look up to Fieldy in any way, shape, or form. All he does is click click click clickity click click click in every song. I don't even think it can be considered a bass line. I think deep down Fieldy wants to be a drummer........
why do I hate Fieldy?
well, let me share a secret with you, I never reallly listend to a Korn song long enough to notice any clicking sounds (I did notice all their instruments sound like they are keyboard proccesed) and I do not hate them for their music (just like I don't hate any other band for producing music which is not to my taste) but I hate their affilation.
what do I mean by affialtion you might be asking yourself?
I mean they join a long line of musicians (so called) who are not driven by passion for music but rather were "artificially" created by record companies.
N' Sync and Korn are the same style for me, because music is not their primary focus (maybe not even the second) and thats because they are supposed to use their [faux']style to promote their music and not the opposite.
while this is legitimate, they don't even promote their music through their snickers or baggy
pants but rather try to establish themselves a place as entertainers, again, loosing the focus on the music and focusing on the people, or actually their clothing, hairstyles, body piercing, attitude and so on.
what I tried to say in this too long a reply, was, that Fieldy and his buddies are marketing tools, and they do not reflect the true spirit of creation that charectrizes, say, Stanley Clarke who may wear a designer's shirt in a gig but this wouldn't be a curcial part of his stage personality but rather a musician who wants to share his musical ideas with his audiance who enjoys listening to his particular music and not pay attention to any aspects of the artist which are not regarding his creation (what shoes/shirts he wears or the colour of his hair).

Agree with the sell out... but i remember KoRn in the old days... they were NOT artificially created (as BSB and Nsink)....
Yes... they are NOW more worried about image and their music SUCK now... but back then they were original and were struggling for a record deal, and if you see some of the old home videos that they released you´ll see that they were like some of us... playing at parties and bars...
it happened that they reached mainstream and got lost in it....
i say again... AGREE with all you say, but disagree in the Artificially created thing... newer bands can fit that description

Actually, in an interview I read, he actually said "I am a drummer on bass"
Ever listen to the song porno creep? That bassline is sweet. Yes, Fieldy IS a bassist. Why does everyone make fun of him? I'm sure half of the people making fun of Fieldy suck more than him! There are plenty of worse bassists than him, why don't people make fun of them?
You gotta give Fieldy credit for originality... oh wait, Les Claypool did it first...

Yep. I see Mud as proof you CAN do something with that clickity sound...or even with just a "percussive attack"...Wich Feildy does not seem to be able to do. He just pounds it. I could go into it, but my arguments have been previously mentioned.
