Why do you drive the vehicle you do?

2007 Ford Mustang Gt

I drive it because at the time when I went looking for a car to buy, I didn't want to exceed a certain monthly payment.
I used CarMax.Com and ran a search based on my monthly payment criteria and this car popped up on the first page.
Something about it just spoke to me, who knows what that was??????
Had it shipped from CA to VA and test drove it, got an awesome price on it and drove it home.

Sorry, no personal reasons or Ford enthusiasm or anything like that.
It just happened to catch my eye and I've loved it ever since.

It's been good to me and I'm considering getting another.
Or maybe the one of the new Camaros. Who knows.
There's a really big part of me that wants either the Ford F-150 or the latest body style Dodge Ram.
I'd be happy with any of them, but probably leaning more towards the pick ups.

I also ride a Suzuki GSXR so being able to piggy back both going places would be a HUGE plus.

96 accord.

why? because it cost me 800 dollars and my old car was falling apart. it was a 84 grand prix and it cost me 500 dollars. drove that for 4 years and it never cost me anything but gas. intended to drive it until i blew it up. i sold it for 350. realistically, i payed 450 for this car and it saves me a crap-ton on gas. and its not green. win all around.

I always thought it would be cool to own an aging luxury car, something I could never afford to buy new. So when I moved to Seattle a couple of years ago I bought a '97 Acura CL coupe for cash. Great car, low miles (has 127K now!), never a lick of trouble but I wish I'd gotten the 4-door version for hauling gear. Car has a useless backseat. Only complaint. That and it's so reliable I'll never convince my wife to let me trade it in! :-D

I don't have pics right now, but I drive my 1999 Ford Contour because I've had it since I got my license, it's been through a lot with me, and it never lets me down. Plus the v6 is quick enough to get me where I need to go in a hurry, it's awesome in the snow, and it doesn't draw attention so you can get away with all sorts of maneuvers.

I just got a 2000 Dodge Dakota because I need a newer, safer vehicle, I like driving trucks, and it was the perfect size and price for me. Plus, I need a vehicle I can move bikes and musical equipment with. Also, it's the only one I have with working a/c.

I drive a 1989 Chevy Beretta because it's a neat car, but mostly because I'm doing my guitarist a favor by giving him somewhere to store it and trying to keep it out of the junkyard.

Finally, I only drive my 1975 Dodge Dart in the summer, but it's really neat, being an all original classic car. It's fun to drive, and the attention it gets when I take it out driving is cool. I'm sentimentally attached to it; a week after I got my driver's license, my mom put me in it and sent me up to drive in the cruise, and I've driven it in the local classic car cruise every year since.

Volvo S60 2.4 diesel. Comfort, class, surprisingly fast.

However it's almost as thirsty than a pickup truck I owned before and the turning circle isn't much better either.
But I got leather seats now, no manual shifting anymore and an amazing sound system.

To test my patience, my ability to fix anything on the fly, my faith in God, my resolve not to kill anyone, my driving skills, my heat tolerance, my cold tolerance, my ability to climb mountains, my mad skills with starting vehicle while holding the starter in place, my chest flattening abilities so I can reach the starter under the vehicle while it's dead in the middle of a busy downtown street, the ability to not go flush with embarrassment when a girl is my passenger when it dies in the middle of a hill that I have to roll down and backwards to get to a safe spot, my snow and ice driving capabilities in a super light 2WD RWD, my ears to try and listen to the dying stereo over the engine and road noise, and did I mention my faith in anything?

I have a number of cars, because I am a gearhead

primary transportation in the warmer months is my harley' in the colder months, a ford F250 4x4
it snows here, in the winter, and I have a wood stove. a 4x4 pickup was necessary. The 67 austin healey was just a restoration project that I wanted to do. My 81 vette was something I got because that particular body style was my wife's dream car (getting one with the 4 speed was my idea). Plus I am always buying or selling some toy

Urrrrrrggggh!

We have a local police auction around here that must just literally peel the stickers off before selling, I can't tell you how many times I see one all decked out spot lights and all and then see some 21 year old guy with his hat turned sideways behind the wheel.

Very frustrating when your innocently trying to drive like an idiot. :-)

2012 Mini Countryman because it's like driving a go kart that fits 4 adults, is fast, gets 30 gpm, and has a killer stereo. Also it's easy on the eyes. I once owned a Clubman and sold it for a BMW only to go back to a Mini. I'm 6'5" and I like the whole polar bear getting out of a clown car.

I love my Ranger. It is comfortable, reliable, and practical. We live in the city, so the Ranger is a good tradeoff between size and parkability.

This picture is from 2010 just after it's annual spring washing. It looks rougher now since it has spots of flat black where I have done some body work.One of these days I have to get the right paint ;)

Had this Taco built at a chop shop ('02 frame, '04 body, '06 engine/driveline) because I wanted a 5 speed manual tranny in a 4x4 crew cab, which Toyota didn't offer in '08. Think they might offer this package now, or so i was told by someone I don't really trust.
Wanted a pickup to haul dogs and occasionally gear and a crew cab to haul guests, groceries or basses. Wanted a 4x because there are a lot of gravel roads, logging roads and driving across fields here in the sticks. Wanted a Toyota because there is a Toyota shop here in town (pop 1200) and they are a dependable, sturdy little truck with OK gas mileage 20+/mpg.
Really love Chevies, but they aren't building anything good in a small/mid truck right now and their electrical isn't all that great. Love the power, speed, and ride of Chevs tho.

Inherited this from my MIL when she passed away in '05. '89 Caprice Classic with only 24k on it - now up to 74k. Gets about 20+/mpg. Great car for hauling a lot of people comfortably and hauls a ton of gear. Nice cushy ride suspension! Sits low to the ground so really easy load in & out. Wide low stance is great for driving on windy days, which is a constant living right on the Oregon coast headlands. Vans and SUV boxy cars tend to get pushed around.

Used to be primo, but sideswiped a friends suspension bridge (slippery wood planks) a few years ago - had a body shop pull the mess back out for $800 (did an excellent job), but then they wanted another $800 to repaint and I didn't want to drop any more into it for cosmetics. So now one side is primer gray - wished they woulda used white -- wished I woulda thought to ask! Also blew out an intake gasket when it vapor locked a couple of years ago - turns out this model year used a 307 Olds 5 liter V8. Replacing the gasket is quite a chore as it is one big gasket for the intake manifold PLUS both valve covers - genius I tells ya. Now it's blowing oil somewhere, but not through the rings. It's not blowing blue smoke and there's not a puddle on my garage floor, but have to add a quart every 300 miles or so. Auto tranny also starting to slip a bit. Just want to get 100k out of it and then will scrap it.

I don't know who "you guys" are, but mine isn't a Police Interceptor, just a plain old Crown Vic. And I wish I was 21. I wish I was only twice that age. ;)
