Everyone who doesn't own a Warwick seems to talk crap about them all the time. I own two basses, a Corvette $$ and an Ibanez pawnshop P.O.S., my first bass. The only reason I still have the Ibanez is pure back up purposes. The Warwick is the last bass I'll ever buy. The tone is out of this world, craftmenship is perfect. It's awsome looking. I know what sound and looks good can differ from person to person, but why all the hate. Maybe because they don't try to sound like a fender.

Why does everyone hate an Warwick basses.

The necks are very different from a lot of other basses. Some of them are CHUNKY! To me that doesn't make them BAD per say, just not my thing. As with any forum, people (including me) will overstate their opinions to make them "stick" more. So they may say "They suck" when what they MEAN is "just not my thing". Don't take it personal. There are people who will hate on anything. No biggie. You have a REALLY nice bass.....but I don't want one. End of story.
I had a thumb BO 5 , sounded cool , played awful.
Terrible neck dive, just not my thing.
As for craftsmenship, good, maybe great, perfect....I don't think so, at least on my thumb.
On the other hand Warwick players LOVE their bass', like you.
If you love it , keep it and gig it to death.!!!!

I see waaaaaaay less people talked crap about warwicks than I do other brands of bass. Biggest complaint I see about Warwicks is the thick necks... which is a personal preference issue.

Oh, come on - there will always be people hating any bass brand you care to mention, you have just read a few threads and focused on Warwicks, because you happen to like them very much, and it's a natural thing to feel confused or frustrated when other people say they hate what you like. You have probably read the random comments from less than 1% of bass players that don't own Warwicks, and that's not enough to make any general conclusions. I don't own a Warwick now, but I have before, and I like them OK. I may own another some day, especially if I can find a Fortress Flashback like I used to own, and then I'll only play it sitting down

LOL...I dont see much "hate" for Warwicks....everybody has their preferences. I bought (and sold) 3 different Warwicks trying to find one that I really liked...I ended up realizing I hated the necks on the Warwicks, and that I was just a dyed-in-the-wool Spector man, so I bought more Spectors.

The necks are fat I'll give you that, but i think it adds to the tone. Plus for me it is very comfortable, I have large hands. Also my Ibanez isn't crappy because it's an Ibanez, it's crappy because it's crappy and sounds like hell.

I love Warwick's tone, but the necks are just funky. Not my thing. I like the necks on their Rockbasses more.

Back to the OP. Don't sweat it dude. People hate my BTBs, my Carvin 6, my MIJ Jazz, my Cirrus 4, my SWR stack, my Ampeg stack (made in Vietnam head, don't even get me started). But I dig all of it. I have great gear for just about any gig! I do fill-ins for every genre of music you can think of, and I have the gear to get it done. But SOMEBODY will hate EVERY bass and amp I own. No biggie really. You have a sweet bass...TO YOU....and that's all that matters.

For the once or twice I've played a Warwick, I have found that they are heavy, the necks dive, they are ugly, and the tone is not good enough to justify those things.
Not saying I hate them, just not my cup of tea.
I have only played a Rockbass and to be honest it was bad. It was heavy, had a fat neck, looked terrible, didn't sound that great and just felt weird to play.
i like 'em. the necks are coming out slimmer as standard now, prolly cos of threads like this!

Hate is wasted on a hunk of wood with some bits of metal attached. I've played few that I liked. I owned one for a few years, but never got comfortable with it.
I don't like thick necks, which most Warwicks have.
I don't like the tone, which seems to get buried in the mix as soon as the guitar player plays a note - before he even takes his amp off standby.
I do think they are very well made and I like the way several of their models look. I have heard one great sounding Warwick in my life; it was a beat up Streamer bolt on with a Seymour Duncan pickup. I can't rationalize spending the money Warwicks go for and needing to change the pickups.

Love love love my warwick, I got the $$ too and could not be happier, the woods add so much to the tone, the placement of the 2 massive MM style MEC pickups in the middle body is great, picks up a lot of the sounds j basses can't! Tone options are endless, havent even found them all yet! As to the driftwood comment, you are paying for those woods, and their motto "the sound of wood" is what they are named for! Some exotic some not so much, but sound great. I don't have large hands yet I am very attracted to the bass so I had to get rid of my musicman, I only needed one active bass as my main player.....
