Why does everyone hate Squire's????

I just hate EVERY Leo design EXCEPT the Stingray.
The P Bass HATE
The Jazz HATE
The Tele HATE
The Strat HATE
The Mustang HATE
Name ANY Fender/Squier model I proabably hate it.
Nothing personal but, I just don't like the look of any of 'em.
Also Squier and Fender both got horrible quality control and both are overpriced.

Wow. I can understand not liking the design of an instrument. But as a musician, I do respect instruments that have proven themselves capable of making great music.
I happen to think Leo's designs have made much great music. In fact the Funk Brothers used some of them, and they played on more number-one hits than The Beatles, Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, and The Beach Boys combined. Even if I didn't like the look (it so happens that I do), I couldn't bring myself to hate such musically effective instruments.
But different strokes for different folks.
You can't judge a book my looking at it's cover.
It's always going to be a personal thing though. For me, i love the fender designed instruments.
I can't bring myself to buy a stingray, the tone is just not my thing.
Because i'm way to good of a player to play a cheaply made, overpriced peace of crap...

I've had a Status, a Kubicki, still have my Rickenbacker, custom Pbass and 4 string and 6 string Washburns.
and a Squier Deluxe Active Jazz Bass V 5-String... stock.
I love that bass.
They just don't sell anything under the Fender name like it.
The good 'ol fat headstock with 4+1 tuner arrangement, no position markers, back routed, side output jack and active electronics. It's a hell of a recording bass.
It's exactly what I would have spec'ed if I had a custom jazz built. Damned similar specs to my custom Pbass, except that has a Kahler too.
The only change is I stripped off the satin neck finish. I love the feel of unfinished necks.
Oh wait, I did forget to mention that they do need to quit using those crappy assed pots on them. Scratchy at their top and bottom and just don't seem quite linear enough.

this my squire jazz deluxe V along with my mia fender deluxe p, the fender is definitly higher quality but the squire sits right on stage with it and gets plenty of play time. don't know if all squiers are the quality of the deluxe Vs but this is a damn impressive playing bass.

My squier could just be totally badass and kill anything else with a theoretical RPM of sweet tone. I've played a few basses that have been close or better than mine... (pay attention on how most of the better ones have a 2k price difference)
Squier CV 60's pbass-Close (better neck, not sound)
Squier VM 70's pbass-Close (same neck feel, less tone)
197? Fender Precision bass-Better (Better neck, different tone but about the 'same' on how I like em)
1978 Fender pbass-Better (high action, smoother, 'same' tone)
Roscoe LG 3004-Better (more versatility, different but just as fast neck, better quality woods, better body shape)
Ibanez SR500-Same (can grab some tones my squier can't but it can't pull of a big beefy pbass tone, faster neck but it makes me bend my wrist a lot more)
My point
I've owned a squier p bass for about a year an a half now and still sounds great. Never had any issues with it at all. I play all kinds of music on it an I like the way it son ds an also it's very affordable. Idk wat the big deal is. And besides, wats the real difference between a "beginning" bass an a "professional" bass? They can both play well, and all still play the same notes..
I dont really think that anybody hates squier.
They either mistake it for a more expensive bass and give it an unfair review by comparing it to instruments far more expensive or they simply dont like it.
Personally? My sx's all play better to me than any squier ive played.
Now lets assume that a beginner doesnt know about sx...........
at that point I will say that the Yamaha RBX-170 is the BEST starter bass for the money.
I paid $155 out the door at a local bestbuy and loved it without any mods. Then i added a gotoh 201 bridge and loved it even more. then I added Dimarzio pups/cts pots and really really loved it. then i added d'addario chromes, a thumbrest and an ashtray and now its perfect.
Is it my only bass? nope Do i own better ones? of course.... but no matter what i own or what i buy in the future this bass is still worth more than what I paid for it. And that is why i personally dont like squier.

Agreed on the saving money bit, but in the same price range I would just pick up a cheap Ibanez instead.
Admittedly if you have a strong bias towards a particular Fender bass, a Squire can be an acceptable alternative without too much work, but for those of us who don't, there's lots of other good options.
P bass is A BASS. to say it's "THE BASS" seems way too closed minded to me.

2. Jingoistic, nationalistic bull crap: a REAL Fender is better because it's made in America!. A ridiculous sentiment.
3. American love brands. A "Fender" on the headstock is a source of pride, a Squier a source of embarassment.
Anyway, in the 80s, I owned a SWEET 70s "real Fender" P bass. Due to financial problems, the only bass I can currently afford is the dreaded Squier Affinity P bass. GASP! Not an Affinity!
My real Fender and my Affinity sound EXACTLY THE SAME. EXACTLY. No difference. Both have Alder bodies, maple necks, and rosewood fretboards. Both stay in tune for several weeks at a time.

I also have a squier deluxe active V 5-er, black. LOVE IT. best bass i've ever owned. before that i had a VM jazz...and until i traded the VM for the deluxe active...the VM was the best bass i had ever owned.
plus i feel good that as a non-professional part-timer with a family & a mortgage i didnt break the bank.

About 3 years agvo I bought my first "Fender" Bass guitar from a fellow who is on this forum(it was listed on E Bay). I have had Washburns,Ibanez's,Yamaha's ,a Cort, SX's,a EL Degas and my first bass was from Sears. The "Fender" I bought was a Squier VMJ with a Agular preamp installed to stock pickups. The Squier has to be, for me the most comfortable bass I have played ever,,period. Infact I love this bass so much I purchased a Squier VMJ FL and a VMP T.B. So to each his own,for me I find these bass's "just fit" .
