Why does everyone hate Squire's????

My main bass is a used, 2002 Squier Affinity P-Bass, wearing Fender 9050 flats. It's an excellent bass, considering it was a $100 impulse buy. I've gigged it a bunch (mostly church bands) but also in bars and at my college. I've gotten compliments on the tone left and right. Would I rather own a sunburst/rosewood 2008 Fender MIA Standard P with a black pickguard? YES. But, for the time being, this is one nice bass for the $$$.

I have an mid 90's P/J special that i have not done anything with till last week. I had a shop rewire it since it had thee cheapest wiring i have ever seen in a bass . I added a p and J set of S.D. 1/4 pounders, CTS pots, switchcraft jack and brown betty cap. She sounds great. Not too hot but with good bite. I took it to our gig last weekend and she had me smiling.

I hated Squires, until the new VMs came out. My VM Jazz was great stock, didnt even need a setup and I had it shipped to me brand new! But, after a while I wanted more out of it, put a fretless Mighty Mite neck on it, Badass 2 bridge and EMGS. It freaking rocks now. In the future I want to put a vintage tint on the stock neck and reinstall it.

Seems to me the Squires are pretty decent for their low price range. Do they compare to more expensive models? ..yes, sometimes, but only on some occasions. Its hard to find something equally as good as a squire that can be had for $150.

Just as a side note question to those of you reading, I just picked up a Tune twx41 for just a little over $200. Would you consider this equally as good, or better than a Squire?

I don't hate squier. It's just that when i hear "squier" I think of 12 year olds with an affinity p bass and a fender rumble 15 watt. Playing Fall Out boy. Badly.
But a good bassist can make a squier sound nice if he's got a decent amp. But since we've basically never heard any good bassists playing squiers, and never heard them through anything better than 15 watt combos, just hearing "squier" automatically makes us grind our teeth.

I personally couldn't care less what name is on the headstock, if I like it I play it ... that being said .... I have a Squire VM Jazz Fretless & its a very good bass Play wise & sound wise ... I haven't changed anything but the strings.

On the other hand I also have a squire P-bass that was the biggest POS I ever saw when I got it ... its actually pretty fun to play now after "lots" of work & new pups & wiring.

Squires are just like any other brand ..there are good ones & bad ones

i have an '89 squier II that i love.
ill never get rid of it.

i think people look at a name to define the type of insturment they are paying for.
ive learned not to look at labels, or prices for that matter.
i love my squier, and i love my SX.
both $100 basses.

I want a £259 Squier for my second guitar. I have played a few and most were ok, however the Affinity felt a bit, well, heavy. I currently have a Peavey Millenium and it has been wonderful, so if u want a good cheap bass i would recomend it. £170ish!!!!:D

I don't like Squires very much, but if someone handed me a Squire Classic Vibe Tele P-bass I would be more than happy to play it. I really don't like Fenders that much either... I am afraid that that last comment will get me kicked off of TB haha.
