Why does everyone love AMPEG so much?

Is it just me, but does somebody look like HE's had a cesarean?

Modern medicine is amazing.

And I've yet to play through an all-tube Ampeg, but the ones I've used were unimpressive to me. I need a larger sample size before I publish my scientific findings.

Don't know, but it looks like his pants are falling down..LOL
But mine would be too ,with four ladies hanging on me.

Well back in the "Day"... there was very few amp makers, and ampeg got there foot in the door early, and most of the recordings were done with Ampeg. So growing up that was the sound you were looking for and there is nothing wrong with Ampeg,I like the Ampeg sound too,but time changes, music and music styles change, you have alot more to choose from nowdays and it your choice out there in ampland.
So that being said... I'am so glad that we have so much to choose from nowdays,I would nt want to have to choose between let's say Ampeg,Fender,Kustom,Acoustic.

Ahh But the Quest for Tone never ends..........

People like what's comfortable and what they're used to. I never have been and still to this day am not a fenfer/'Peg guy. I grew up playing neck thru Jacksons and Charvels and Spectors thru Mesa gear so I still like that sound and style.
A lot of people are introduced to that combination early in their playing career so it just feels like home.
No big whoop. Plenty of other companies out there doing just as good if not better tonally, and certainly in the realm of QC.

Wow, first time I noticed this character's signature. Says in his profile he's 21. I'd have guessed he had a problem with transposing numbers and was 12 based on the sig alone.

Hey Kris, life is too short to think you know everything at 21.

Holy crap I just noticed that. He made another thread a while back and you said the same thing to him then too.

So from what I gathered, people like ampeg because 1) It's a classic 2) Everyone who's somebody uses one 3) It reminds them of alcohol 4) It reminds them of red heads and 5) People like to make posts completely irrelevant to the topic.

So what I have gathered so far is:

1. It's a classic because so many poeple LIKE THE TONE.

2. Many people use other amps, including people who are "someone."

3. Everything reminds many people of alcohol.

4. Many people prefer blondes.

5. Your own posts have been off topic.

I can't take you seriously when you say that Markbass sounds like Orange. It's like saying pizza tastes like fruit salad.

And, by the way, what's the big deal with pizza? Why do so many people like it? I think they just like to copy other famous people who eat pizza in movies or on TV. They probably get paid by Pizza Hut. At home I bet they eat turkey burgers.

Sounds logical to me.
A for awesome, a for artistic, a for apple?

What was the question?

Oh, yeah ..... AMPEG. Well, I'm just getting started on bass but when I went to my local Guitar Center for a practice/small gig amp, the Ampeg was my favorite (BA-112).

This was with an expensive Precision bass off the wall .... (mine is a MIM P-bass). Not only a great tone, but 5 great tones in a switchable format. I couldn't be happier with this thing.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. You are quite correct...oh well, it made me laugh then, it makes me laugh now ;)

Jimmy can you believe this kid? Kris my advice, a little humility will go along way toward helping you get the most from your TB experience.

I just read your "I have 6 open spaces in my rack" thread. Really?! Make friends you will learn more. Everyone here is very willing to help someone who genuinely wants to contribute and learn.

I know a lot of people do love Ampeg. I am not one of them, but it doesn't mean I'm calling any one of them wrong. In fact, they are all right! Right for what they want in tone. It's not what's right for me, and that's ok too! I don't like it when someone keeps trying to tell me I'm just not using it right and it should be able to get any tone I want. It just doesn't.
