Why does everyone misspell my last name?

I pronounced it Peter-kin. I don't understand why people screw that up

I agree with Mr Bra's-Felled on this one.
Apparently I can't even compete in the world of folks with oft-butchered names. So maybe I should just stop complaining
I know some people like that. Sometimes you have a first and last name that just sound so right together they sound wrong apart
I have a Debbie Hall in my congregation...I very rarely hear just "Debbie," "Ms. Hall," or "Sis. Hall."

Neither do I, dude. It drives me nuts! And its been happening since the 1st grade! Why is it that teachers cannot read properly?
My last name is mangled so often, either by pronunciation and/or spelling, that I actually am a bit surprised the few times people get it right on the first try.

My name is Matthew Andrus. Andrus is not a hard name to spell or even remember for that matter. While it's not a super common name like like Smith or Jones, it's not too uncommon to find someone with my last name that's not related to me. My last name has been spelled countless ways by countless people; Andes, Andreas, Andrews, Anderson, etc., and now...Angus.
So my band's new CD just had a pretty good review from a guy on a website here. He gives props to the groove and the rhythm section, BUT...he calls me Matt ANGUS!!!
How in the world is my name going to get out there if everyone keeps misspelling it?

Weirdest thing about my name....whenever, and I mean at least 90% of the time, a Hispanic person spells my first name out, they add a t at the end. Christ instead of Chris. The first time I could remember this happening was in 1st grade. Every time I ask one of my Hispanic friends why that may be, they never have a clue! I don't get it.

Mine's PEEK. My middle school gym teacher translated that into PECK, so everyone picked up on that one in school.

My first name is Adron. I'm very surprised when I hear it pronounced the same way I pronounce it (A-drun) upon initially meeting someone. I usually get Adrian or Andron. I had a teacher in high school spend about 5 minutes on the first day of class arguing with me that I was wrong and my name was "Andrew."
Because by the time we reach high school we still can't say our own names properly, haha! Some teacher.
Fassbender. "Fast bender". Doesn't sound too hard to pronounce, does it? Wrong. I've had people butcher it to the point of "Fassenburger". There's not even a G in my name! Where in bloody hell do you get burger from?!! But then there are some people 'round the office that have seen me playing air bass to the song on the radio and they'll say "Hey! You play bass? That's cool- you know, if you switch the 'B' and 'F' around in your last name you have Bass Fender." If I had a nickel....
