I will say once again, I was not trying to make fun of the UK in any way. I just noted the demographic differences because what Sting wrote stuck with me.Point of order here - I'm not sure how much this particular theme contributes to the discussion but for the sake of accuracy:
I was born in Wallsend (where Sting was from, not North Shields as mentioned above). If he says he was 17/18 when he saw a black person for the first time, I believe him. Tyneside is wonderfully culturally diverse now, but in the 50s & 60s? Not at all.
