For one thing, this site is a tremendous knowledge base for all things bass-related.

I think this is a tremendous knowledge base for all things - period.

This is a bass forum, but bass is NOT the number passion in many members lives. We've got mechanics, doctors, electrification, philosophers, writers, atheists, people who've smoked far too much weed, and every other type of person you could imagine. With tons and tons of experience.

People are also much more responsive on this forum than on others. Most forums I post on, I get a small handful of responses. Mention a metronome or god here and you're guaranteed 10 pages within a day .

Lots of thanks go the the mods and the way this place is set up, but I also like to think it has something to do with the personality of people who choose bass as their instrument. I think there is some truth to the stereotype that we ten to be a little less ego driven, and a tad more thoughtful.

I love this place.

In order to fit in with the local TB'ers, it's important to know their customs.
An emoji that one uses elsewhere and is taken for granted can be interpreted as an insult on TB posts.
Some TB member tribes have lived here for thousands of years and may take awhile to warm up to outsiders, especially drummers.

I think that contrary to what transpires on much of the mass social media out there, people here actually just enjoy sharing knowledge and commentary about a broad set of topics in a civil "environment", where the known goal is collective edification and enjoyment. There are a lot of destructive and toxic elements within other large "social networks" that are well known and yet people seem to heavily gravitate to them. I avoid all that drama and toxicity like the plague. Bass on people!
