Why make something self-destructive?

Isn't it kind of a huge design flaw to make something so powerful that it can damage itself? Why make amps that when turned all the way up can blow out speakers and tweeter twatters? Even the ones that are perfectly matched for it?
 
You want a car that can only go 65 MAX? That thing would be severely underpowered!

As far as amps go, the more power you have to pull from, the more headroom you have. Building it bigger can actually make it last longer, as you do not run near it's limits. This way, you are actually less likely to destroy a speaker, because you are not going to clip the power amp, which is horribly bad on speakers.

And therefore proving my fact. Clipping the power amp is improper operation and is user error.

I can't stress how important it is to know your equipment, proper operation of and proper care for it.

I get what you guys are saying. I just hate the fear/temptation to turn all the knobs up and play! Its a lot different on a practice amp. On this one I actually give a ~profanity word~ about it.

Do it once, and then you'll cure yourself of that temptation. I kept blowing tweeter protection bulbs a while back, and it freaked me out. Cured me quite well.
 
So when a part inside the amp/Preamp or Head fails you think that is caused by user error. Usually when A part in an electronic device fails it is anything but user error. Usually a defective part or shoddy installation and the customer is not usually building his/her own power amps So that would make it not user error and that happens more often than not.

I think you misunderstand. We're mainly talking about overdriving an amp to the point of speaker destruction, and circuit overloads.
