really bad pop music
Maybe I'm alone in this but when I hear "modern music sucks" comments I don't assume the person uttering those comments actually believes that all modern music sucks. What I assume is that they are referring to the music the majority of people in the western world are routinely subjected to via radio, shop playlists, advertising, etc. It would seem pretty obvious that record labels, whose profit margins have plummeted since the advent of "file sharing", are going with what's safe and, in most cases, cheapest to produce. And so what we get is cheaply produced cookie-cutter music. Is cookie-cutter music inherently "bad"? It depends on what you are looking for in your music. But if you grew up during a time when variety and expensive productions had a place on commercial radio playlists then it's no surprise that today's commercial music scene would be a disappointment.
Yes, opinions. "My musical tastes are better than yours."Yeah, heaven forbid we share opinions.

I doubt you were alive 50 years ago. I was working at concerts, radio stations and record stores in the 60s and there was lots of crappy music produced back then. The difference is that back then there were disc jockeys that filtered out as much of the junk as possible leaving the gems. There is no filtering in place today. But objectively speaking, pop music that is pushed by the majors is quite watered down as compared to music from 50 years ago. It's just a sign of the changing priorities of everyone involved, from "musician" (or more accurately, singer), to label/management, to consumer.
Ha. You ain't seen nothin.I thought I'd seen the worst that "music" has to offer.
Then I saw this.
Yes, opinions. "My musical tastes are better than yours."
And we are all the better for it.
