Why no Rumble 500 1x15 combo?

That's a 200. The OP was asking about the 500. They still make the 200.

Too much power for any 15" speaker that Fender has available to put into it. If they put two into a cab, then the power would be fine, but fat chance of finding that as a combo and it would weigh two tons if you could find it.

I'd suggest go with the 210 as that will give you more punch, better transients, and still decent bottom end. Don't know a lot about Fender's 210's but there are a number of 210's out there that produce a better bottom end than a 115 and usually they are louder because the usually have more speaker area and better coverage.

Once again, the 500 combo will only get you 500 watts at 4 ohms. They operate at 8 ohms with just the internal speaker.

Yet another reason to go separate head and cabinet. It gives you a million more choices than what is limited by the marketing departments. Also allows you to build a modular rig for different needs. And allows you to find a head and cab that are best for you. Again, not what is best for the marketing department. With class D heads so small and light the difference between carrying a 1-15 combo and a head and cab is negligible. And yes, you need two cords instead of one. Also may cost just slightly more. But the advantages are huge. I have two heads and three cabs that cover a huge range of needs.

The Genz Benz Contour 500 got lots of love - it just wasn't sold where I live. I'd have got that in a heartbeat.

And yeah, as Gluvhand says - you'd need an extra cab to squeeze everything out of it, but that's what expandability is all about, non?

I got one of those GBs when they were blowing them out, a deal too good to pass up. I finally found a used 2x10 extension to go with it. It's great with either configuration. I'd guess a Rumble version of that would be nice too.

Just grab a 500 head and a pair of Rumble 115's. I forget who it was that snatched up a Bassman 500 head just as soon as they were available and popped it on top of a pair of Rumble 115's for the solid vintage Fender tone.

Actually the Rumble 500 head only puts out 350 watts into a single 8 ohm cabinet. Sometimes I plug mine into a single 15, sometimes into a 4x10. The two together at 4 ohms get me the full 500 watts. They all sound good, what combination I choose depends what and where I am playing.

Yup, an 8 ohm speaker will get 350-watts. It would take a 4 ohm speaker to get the full 500-watts. Thanks for pointing that out.

Actually not heavy at all. The head is 17 pounds and the cabs are 40 a piece. Very manageable.

Good to hear. I had a '66 blackface Fender Bassman amp that I bought new in '66. I used it throughout the 60's and toured with it in the early 70's. I think that 50-watt head weighed more than the one of their new 115 speakers. it was no lightweight, but I was young then...

Rumble 500 head with a Rumble 115 cabinet is going to be your only choice for a 15 + 500. A couple of 115's gives you a lot of versatility. No it's not a combo and never will be.

I'm not sure if they still do, but I seem to recall that some of the Rumble cabs had a magnetic plate on the top of the cab under the Tolex so that when you put a Rumble head on top of it they would stick. Do they still do that?

Absolutely! That is the world famous Rumble Magnetic Attachment System. It's magic.

But for those recommending the Rumble 500 head plus cabs: is there any single affordable 1x15 cab out there you'd pair it with? A single Rumble 1x15 cab doesn't look like it would work - and more two cabs is more than I need at the moment.

Good luck pushing a 115 at 350w. If you can push 250w into one, you're doing very well. A Rumble 500 with a 115 would result in a bunch of warranty claims with blown speakers.

To repeat myself, I have run my Rumble 500 cabinet into the "other" Fender 115 for several years now with no ill effects. Also, I do not think Fender would suggest pairing the two on their website it would be a problem.
Side note; it's kind of a drag that they closed their visitor center in Corona. They had a lot of their inventory out and had no problems with visitors trying stuff out. An d you could actually get questions answered in person.

Oh, there's no doubt that sane people can easily run a 350w head into a cab that takes less and still come out with their cab intact. But in a combo where there will be a ton of people buying it who are not sane, it's best to limit the wattage to something the cab can take safely before fartout.
