This past summer someone offered me the Adam Nitti Signature 5 (ANB205) in a trade, and, when I looked at the specs, it was basically the exact specs that I would pick if I were to be able to design a bass from scratch, right down to the color and the black blocks on the neck. This is now my go-to 5er, because it's a fantastic player and sounds (and, I think, looks) amazing:
That's a good looking bass.
Funnily enough, I own no Ibanez 5 stringers, but I have 5 6 string Ibanezes. I love the SR necks, and the BTB Volo ones. If an 845V or an older NT SR pops up at the right time, I think I'd snaffle it.

why is an Ibanez bass guitar not a very popular bass.....I have 5 out of 30 bass guitars.....I love the sounds......But when I read up on bass players out of the masses only a few play Ibanez......I was just wondering why that is???????They look and sound great to me.......

Just my 2¢ Its their perception of being a starter bass brand & not many Major Artist or Players use them, I think their legacy of Copying others has hurt them as not legit and the lack of a recognized model! They just need a Legit Endorser.
They missed the boat with Marcus Miller, He started his own company! With all of the small innovations they produce, they've fail to produce 1 signature model! No one says I need an Ibanez Road star,to complete my stable!

Thanks! You understand what I am trying to say......I want to try one with Aguilar 6 string pickups....I need to know what the pros and cons are about them and not telling me to get a J bass.......Thanks again......
The models with Aguilar pickups seem to be top notch. I think Felipe Andreoli from Angra loves his Ibani!

Some signal processing added as usual, but it sounds slammin!

I'm another big fan of Ibanez, the Soundgear line in particular. The spacing and the necks work really well for me. My SR1006 is the most comfortable six string I've played, although I've never tried a true short-scale. The knock I see against them is usually the electronics. Some people don't like the Bartolinis that most of them come with (I like them fine although I'd still like to try something else); some people don't like their preamps (myself included). But that's a personal preference, and there are several options with different electronics packages anyway. My only gripe with my six string is that the pickups are a custom size, so if I wanted to swap, I'd either have to have pickups made up to the right measurements, or rout the openings.

I didn't understand what the poll options were for.....Most conversations are about an American made Fender something......Not American made Ibanez something.....It's like looking for information about a Sony camera and most of the people in the thread say buy a real camera get a Canon.....I don't own a P bass.....I do have an elite jazz bass.....I don't run into Ibanez bass discussions......It is nothing that I believe......Just what I see and hear.....And thanks for your perspective on it.....

i see a LOT of threads about ibanez basses, so i'm confused. maybe some of the thread titles don't actually say ibanez - they just say something like "NBD - mikro bass" or "I love my GSR100" or "Talman - a Jag Killer?"

right now, on the first page of the basses forum, i see these threads:
'Ibanez Musician Bass Club', 'Ibanez Ergonomic Headless Bass (EHB) club', and 'My impressions of my new Ibanez ehb1005 ms headless 5 string'. on the second page, i found 'Artcore Models', ibanez gets a mention in the 'low end bass manufacturers' thread...

sure, there are more fender threads, but then fender is arguably the most popular brand of bass and have been making them for the longest.

True, true. I used to repair electronics incl a lot of MI gear, and I'd often ask why people used what they did. By far the most common answer was X uses this, which creates a feedback loop. For example, I see no reason for an 8x10, but I've had many tell be it's because their fave player uses one.

I think Ibanez is incredibly popular. The OP’s perception is probably due to the fact that they don’t have an iconic flagship model like a Precision or Stingray, but make many, many different models all over the price range. I’m gassing for an 80’s Musician as well
