Why play a 6 string?

Understood... but you might be surprised at how many take generic for the gospel. That's why I try to point it out whenever it happens.

Do not, under any circumstances, buy a 6 string bass. Because....

the intonation suffers alot
they are heavier
wider neck makes handling harder
string spacing is narrower and you can't slap
bass doesn't need to go that high
bass solos sound bad

and

you are not Jack Bruce (and even he gave up playing 6 string).

just because of your own bad personal experience you should not try to deny someone a new experience. Your particular 6 string may have had these issues but it doesn't mean that EVERYONE who plays a 6 has the same problems.
