Why Text every freakin' time to ask "Is practice still on for tonight?"

I used to get that in an old band. One guy out of 5 would say "I can't make it" and the immediate response from the rest was "let's cancel, then". ***? There are certainly things you can work on with one guy gone, even if just backing vocals. I said this many times, but it was like clockwork - one guy cancelled and everyone else wanted out too. SMDH
Works as well for stuff that could have been talked about before practice, like what song/version to learn.
100% agree with you on that...and I am all about that type of info in advance.

I guess I tend to be that guy. I've been burned man. Burned. 2 hours and gas/time justifies a quick text to make sure nothing has changed. I've been burned by "the guy" that is supposed to notify.....
I'm that guy. Flake once and I will do it every time. Trust but verify.
I'm that guy. I ask every time. This way I can avoid loading stuff up and taking it to work with me. I have to drastically alter my day for weeknight practice, including my wife and I having to take separate cars as we commute together. Been burned too many times with flakes.
I am literally aghast, and figuratively clutching my pearls at the thought of working with someone so unprofessional as to make an unnecessary text. It is very disrespectful. I'm an easy-going guy, but I would not work with someone like that.
I appreciate the last minute confirmation texts. A lot of times it gives someone a chance to let us know they might be late or whatever. Or I'm always worried it already got canceled, but somehow I never caught wind of it because I was a little drunk at the last practice or I was playing something when I should have been paying attention to what people were saying. Mostly in my bands it gets used to move practice back 30 minutes because someone had to pick up their kids or work late or they can't come because they got the covid or something.
