Why the hate towards guitarists?

I can see how this is a joke and everything and like many people have said we've all ran into the errogant musician or whatever but it just comes with the territory. Some people just have big heads hahaha thats how it is. Having said that, ive loved all the guitarists that ive played with, they listen and are open to new ideas and i couldnt be happier.....but the guys at GC that sit there with 2 months of expirence and the volume knob on 11... :D

I don't use it (calling someone "********") because it's a slam against a person who through no fault of their own has an organic brain issue. They can be a sweet decent person who ain't going to live that long and has to put up with a LOT of crap from the "intelligent" world [or the non-********]. IMO it's not a good thing to use a birth defect as a put-down. {It would be "lame", right?}
And that has nothing to do with being "politically correct". It's part of a culture who calls someone who can't speak "dumb" and therefore that word is interchangeable with stupid.
....There is a reason why the world lacks compassion & it's obviously deeper than we may realize.

I use the term guitard... partly because I am one too... although I started on bass, the first instrument I bought was my ESP Explorer guitar..... and thanks to it I learned my theory and when I bought my Ibby it was insta awesome =D....

I use it jokingly, unless I'm talking about the one in my band... he only has 1 of his 2 "apricots".... you see so he is kinda tarded... lol... but even then I'm still just joking... I think of it as a term of endearment... we only tease the ones we love =D

I hear you loud and clear, but sometimes the real meaning is nothing to do with the slang meaning.

For example, I use the word "gay" to insult somebody when messing around, however I have nothing whatsoever against homosexuals.

Easy now... You've made an incorrect assumption here...

The word 'guitard' is not a slam on the mentally challenged community by combining the words 'guitar' and '********'. No, it's a legitimate re-purposing of the musical term 'ritardando' meaning 'to gradually slow the tempo'.

How many times have your guitar playing friends slowed the pace looking for a capo, tuning/retuning, stomping on stompboxes, switching out guitars or engaged in any other 'tempo slowing' activities.

Now had the term been 'getard' - ok... I see your point.
