Why UPS!?! (a rant)

I used to work in Industrial Engineer, I think that was the department in UPS years ago.

The fact the direct route isn't always the most efficient.

The fact that discussion is even happening is a reflection on the fact that too many people have too much time.

Or less out it this way . You think you can do better then do better.

Open your version of UPS and do door to with no stops in between and see how long you stay in business. UPS is there because they deliver.

I think that the mistake many of us are making is assuming that human beings look at a package as it travels through the system at UPS or FedEX and make decisions along the line as to what should be done with it. I'm pretty sure that computer programs have been written using algorithms designed to maximize overall efficiency and minimize costs, and once a package is scanned into the system, those programs determine where it goes and how it gets there.
