The GOAT doesn't use modest basses....you just mentioned, he plays Foderas!![]()

As long as you live in a state where that's not frowned upon. You are certainly welcome to love your GOAT.![]()
If you cannot afford a bass or don’t think it worth the price, buy one that fits your budget and call it a day.
The only one of those i have to deal with is a firm but polite no if anyone asks to play it.As the price of an instrument goes up, so does this:
- not gonna gig it, might get stolen
- not gonna gig it, might get scratched or dinged
- not gonna let anyone play it, they might hurt it
- not gonna gig it, doesn't need stale beer and cigarette perfume
- if I'm away @ work, someone broke into my house, this is the first thing they would take
Is it worth the worry?
That being said, I still want a Fodera and / or Roscoe and / or Pentabuzz![]()
But....
the realities, imv, are that people want to convince themselves that Model range A is as good as Model range B which is twice the price from the same manufacture.
These pages are full of these realisations that quality can have its justifiable price and if you spend less, do not be surprised that something is missing.
Therefore, its just a matter of acceptance and reconciliation. imo.
Oh, it's tangible, all right. Just take a look at your bank account balance.I don't mind paying a premium if the premium is tangible.
The thing is with me, since I shop mostly used, my G.A.S. works on me when its something I want or something that catches my eye and I feel the price is too low to pass up. Once the price gets over my 'psychological limit', regardless of what it is, my G.A.S. does not activate. After a few threads wondering if the prices of given basses are justified, I have come to the conclusion that it just isn’t worth worrying about. If you cannot afford a bass or don’t think it worth the price, buy one that fits your budget and call it a day. We are fortunate to be consumers at a time when quality instruments are available at many price points. I say spend your time getting better instead of getting caught up in instrument prices.![]()
