Why's TC so cheap?

I tried out a TC blood moon phaser. ...There also seemed to be a noticeable lag between hitting the footswitch and the effect engaging. Could have just been the pedal I tried though.

Not for nothin, but the cheapo line of pedals for some reason has been built so that the effect engages when you step OFF the switch.

I know nothing about why they're so cheap, by I love my TC Spectracomp compressor. It's perfect...fully programmable, loads of pre-set tones, app works nicely, but it's a set it and forget it sort of pedal.

I see this complaint often. It never bothered me when I had a SkySurfer reverb on my board. What did bother me was the pop it sometimes made, the hiss when it was on and how ridiculously low I had to put the Mix knob to not be drenched in reverb (useable range was 0-25%). It was great value, but I have an MXR now.
