It was "Running With the Devil" by Van Halen. Oh, by the way? The album had just come out, so you can get an idea of how long ago that was! The second was "Purple Haze." God bless the "E" string.
'enter sandman'
(simplified) was the first song i learned all the way through, followed by 'my friend of misery'. i had just gotten my bass for my birthday and had gotten the black album two days later. 'my friend of misery' took a really long time, but i finally got it one day. those piano lessons paid of!
I'm pretty sure my first song was "For Whom The Bell Tolls" by Metallica. That and Cliff's bass solo (Anesthesia) were my first 2 songs, I don't remember which came first.
BTW--When I say Anesthesia was one of my first songs, I'm talking about the slower part, before the drums come in. I couldn't play the faster part until a few months after that.
