I don't know if this is what you meant to say, but to me this kind of strikes me as lowering to their level. Just because some other country does something doesn't mean we should.

No, that's not what I'm saying. What I mean is that international politics, diplomacy, military actions, and so on are a very very dynamic thing - things happen every single day. To understand the whole proactive/reactive nature of world events and how we do business, it would be an epiphany if we (the public) were to also be able to eavesdrop on our competition

I am not naive enough to believe we can exist with no military, and I do not wish them harm by any means. However, policies or no policies, they are thinking human beings and if the policy is not right and they follow orders they are still responsible.

I just cant imagine treating the military with kid gloves, why are they above criticism? I understand they have a dangerous job but that doesnt put them beyond criticism. When something is wrong it is wrong, period.

That's the one true flaw of the military, its their responsibility to not question their orders. I would gather there are many who have served and did something that was against their will because it was and ORDER!! I understand that in order to have a smooth running government, we need complete obedience from our military, but then we need to hold the people calling the shots responsible for their mistakes, but we seem to be in a time in American history where the powerful are stronger then ever and will not half to be held accountable for their actions.

100% for better or worse. Its the hard truth of freedom. If someone does not have anything to hide then they should not care about what is said. And this on going witch hunt only adds to Wiki's credibility. Trust me I am not picking sides. I have no desire to overturn my government, but it is nice to think that someone is keeping an eye on big brother.

+1 The U.K. has 1% of the world's population but 20% of it's CCTV cameras, 1 camera for every 14 people, it concerns me that they are expecting escalating dissent?

I will say tho, I've seen it being used a fair few times to provide evidence to put bad buys away who would otherwise walk.

Yesterday morning, I read an article on BBC saying that Sweden dropped the rape charges against Assange. A friend of mine brought the same thing up later in the day, but when I went home in the evening, the article no longer existed anywhere; the only articles on the subject were the ones from the day before.

Does anybody know about this? Did the BBC mess up?

A month or two ago Assange was brought up on rape charges, but it was dropped by sweden. Then after this latest thing they reopened and decided to go ahead with it. Wonder if you happened to see an old article?

No, I considered that, but the article talked about mentioned that he would no longer be extradited, implying he was in British custody. I guess since I don't remember the specifics, I could have just inferred wrong. I'm going to look through the older articles to see if I can find anything.
