Im going to buy a musicman sub ray4, and it has active electronics, but my amp doesnt have the passive and active inputs. It simply just says input. So as my title says, will this bass work ? Thanks

Wow Jimmy you just answered a question I have pondered for many years , about why I have always used the passive inputs instead of the active inputs over the years, the sound hella better that way now I know why! CheersIt will. Those active inputs all suck anyway. They just cut the signal considerably lower in case your bass has such hot output that it overdrives the preamp no matter how low you have your gain. But in close to 40 years of playing, the number of times I've had that happen is 0.
I agree, since the eighties I have been ignoring that active jack just thinned it out too much!Every amp I've ever had sounds like the padded input sucks something out of the tone. That's not specific to any brand, it's all of them I've played. Always sounds better to use the passive input with any bass and just adjust the gain knob.
Just because a bass is active doesn't mean its output is any hotter than a passive either. Many are not. The battery is just there to power the preamp/eq controls. I've had some passive basses that were hotter than some actives.
