Will we all being playing our Gibson's through Behringer's before to long?

Consolidation isn't exactly a new trend. Gibson purchased Steinberger and Tobias in the 90s, and Fender bought Guild, Gretsch and Jackson around the same time. But if the rumors are right, you might not see any Gibson branded basses soon.

Let's just hope its Fender that buys everone up.
They have done great things with Gretsch, Guild and Jackson, while Gibson has taken Steinberger and Tobias - 2 once great brands - and driven them right into the ground.
I've emailed Gibson USA about that twice,posted one of them in that thread. The other time after they released the 2016 guitar lineup. Both emails just gave standard I don't know what's going on wait and see kinda answers.
From what I hear though Fender is in the crapper.
Fender has killed some companies too. Shut down Tacoma, Hamer and SWR. Three once great brands, although SWR has never been to my taste.
I have no plans for buying new gear, so I'm fine.
Oh, Fender killed Ovation USA too. And Fender no longer owns Guild. They also killed Sunn, and Genz Benz. Everyone acts like it's just Gibson who is guilty of this.
Lol ESP owes their jump in popularity "guitar wise" to the Fender buy out of Jackson.....

I had forgotten about the Fender kill-offs, most likely because of all of the mentioned brands, I miss Steinberger & Tobias the most.
I have a Gibson Era Toby Pro4, and I love it. I'm not saying it equals a real Tobias... but for $250, I feel I ripped the guy offYou are correct Sir.

I understand! Just pointing out that this issue applies to both Gibson AND Fender.

I think most big companies buy off the little guys and let them die off to get rid of the compition, car companies are no acception. I'm a fender guy but maybe someone should buy fender and fix some of its QC. I know they are better now then in the past but that's not saying a whole lot. As for Gibson, I'm not a fan

They might or might not have done great things with those companies, but Fender has also bought and then promptly closed SWR and Genz Benz. They did at least incorporate a lot of the SWR sound into some of the Fender bass amps, but when it comes to the final product, I'd still rather have an SWR or Genz Benz.
At the risk of being flamed. If Gibson stopped making basses, they are only going to upset dozens of people. Whilst I won't discount what Fender has done for Bass and I love my Precisions, but other brands have been outdoing Fender for a long time. It wouldn't be a great loss if they were going under as there are tons of fantastic other options that provide a better product with far better QC and Customer Service.
Fender did a great job of buying, and destroying one of the greater Amps known. SUNN.
