Thanks very much, I really appreciate it.

I definitely will post some sound clips when I finish the build. I'm going to tear it back apart tomorrow so I can get back to completing the finish. At the moment the setup is so bad that its hard to play, I was just confirming that everything is working as it should.

I have seen some unlined fretless LightWave basses before. I know you can special order one from the custom shop when it is up and running. I don't know if they are doing any right now.

It seems like there used to be more options for ordering on the order site, but I don't remember if unlined was an option or not. I have lined and unlined fretless basses. Unlined impresses people more, but my intonation is a little better on the lined.

I remember playing a gig a couple of years ago with my Gary Willis GWB-35 which is lined. There was a very talented gospel singer running the sound who was also the sponsor of the event. I remember a point about 3 songs in where I did a long slide and his head whipped around and he watched me like a hawk for a couple of songs. I assumed his head whipped around because I was missing intonation badly, but I asked him afterward and he told me he didn't realize I had a fretless bass until that long slide.

I still like the look of no fretlines, but I know I am a better player with lined.

Honestly, I don't know? I have had mine for about 4 years and never have cleaned the sensor or blew any air in there. I don't remember there being anything in the owners manual about doing that.

I imagine that a very dusty environment could cause it to be less responsive. And a heavy dust would be doubly bad because it could cloud both the infrared LED and the sensor.

Art, your profile says Mid-Atlantic. If you are ever over in South Western PA or South Eastern Ohio, give me a yell and you can check out mine. I actually live 30 minutes from Wheeling, WV.

I was always intrigued by the technology and the first Lightwave I got was bought sight unseen from a scratch and dent reseller. Wilcox guitars told me it was originally sold on Ebay, I assume that it was slightly damaged in transit and returned to Ebay and sent to a seller that deals with that stuff. It had two little dents on the points of the body at the butt end. Nobody even notices. As OCD as I am, it didn't bother me. I figured that if I didn't like it, I could flip it. It has been here ever since, but I have desired a fretless to go with it. Hopefully the Fretless brother will be here Saturday. :)

Thanks for the offer, Don't think I'd be able to make it out there any time soon though.

You've basically answered my question, which is that it's essentially a non-issue. I'll have to think about this, there's an amp that I need to replace first. :(
