Double Bass Wilson Pickup

I honestly couldn't hear an acoustic difference with my Wilson bridge, without pickup in, with pickup in, or replugged with wood, as it is now.

Yes, for the short time I had it, I had the same experience as Eric.
I'll also get a K4 instead but meanwhile, did you try to turn it 180°? In that position you usually get more bass/highs and less mids.
I doubt that by turning it by 180 degrees it will give any different sound since the bending will be the same, only with inverted phase. But turning it by any other amount might give a different sound and is worth trying.
On all the basses I've tried, turning it 180° gives a very different character. Less mid and more "open" sounding. Turning it 90° makes it thinner with less volume. Try it!
Probably because the making couldn't be ideal due to one wire that might need to go along the piezo crystal rod. (But I never have seen the inner side of a Wilson element, might be constructed differently than I think of.)

Maybe there is something wrong with my K 1in that case. ..
It's old, maybe 15 years. It was made from a K4.
What do you think of the special tools that are used for the installation? Do they make a difference? I've used a 5mm drill while using my K1 and it has been working fine but maybe it would have been even better if I had used the special tools...
I couldn't tell any difference either. If for some reason I don't like it I may go back to the vintage stat. I always liked those. I didn't care for the single element one though.
I'm sure you could get the same drill bit with out any problem. The reamer is needed. If you're going through the expense of getting get the proper tools too. It adds more expense but its better in the long run.
