Windows program to lay out a pedal board?

I havent thought out the scalability aspect of this but I would use Flash (plus database support) all the way...the drag/drop/add/subtract plus the graphics and or animation...Im sure there are other ways but to get a basic thing going would be a breeze in Flash. I am a graphic designer and web developer with lots of experience in Flash so if you need help, just let me know.

I'm already knee deep in silverlight with this and have no experience in flash (mostly because I can't afford flash dev tools, any free ones??).

You certainly can take over this in flash if you'd like, but it is not an option for me at the moment.

DB backend will come into play when I start loading pedal templates. Just trying to get a simple beta out right now just to answer the question "will this fit on my board?".

I would get in contact with Discofreq who is a member on here. He runs the site Invalid Link Removed, which has pretty much every pedal ever made on it. If you two were to collaborate, letting users upload photos and dimensions etc of every pedal, and letting your app hook into that db you'd have a pretty comprehensive solution!

Courtesy of TBer dlegault here is the alpha version. I'll try to get labels done tonight so it's at least somewhat useable.

Known Bug:
You can drag items outside the floor.

It is very early in this project so please have patience with enhancements requests and such. I'll get to those as fast as I can. I only do this an hour or two a night (and not every night) on a technology that I'm teaching myself as I go.

Issues/comments welcome.

Neato!
A few questions/suggestions:

Right now, there's no way to measure the pedalboard. I guess you could just drop it and draw a box over it, but it would be easier to size it. Of course, if you're going to have pre-set sizes, that doesn't really matter.

Is there a way to delete a box? How bout changing its color?

Right now, when sizing a box, it asks for height first, then width. Could it be reversed? (Width + Height)? I know that's just me being anal.

I've already got about 30 pics saved for ya. I'll do some tonight and more tomorrow at work.

This is going to be cool!

Click on the red square on the top left of the board to load it's properties onto the toolbox. There you will see the size.

Colors/lables/delete coming soon. Those are high on my priority list.

New version sent to dlegault. Hopefully he will update it soon.

Changes:

Moved Toolbox so it doesn't have to be collapsed to move new pedals.
Added Labels.
Keyboard delete key for removing items.
drag bounds.

thanks to everyone for your feedback so far.

Hey its looking real good, just one thing i might suggest is setting the pedals location relative to the board so that when you zoom in/out the pedals stay in the right place on the board. Otherwise its looking like a great program glad someone took the initiative

For those of you in graphic web design - I could use a couple of things:

Icons (in png preferred) for an add pedalboard, add power supply, add pedal, and delete item (an X basically) would be cool.

A pretty HTML container for this. I can do HTML but I'm not good at making things look pretty and I rather spend more time on the functionality side of this. PM and I can give you the stubbed in container.
