Windows program to lay out a pedal board?

Yeah, Javascript is pretty ugly. If you haven't looked at Flash for the last couple of years then I suggest you take a look, it's come a long way and the language has a lot in common with C# nowadays. Or you could always look at Silverlight which would let you leverage your existing .NET knowledge, but I don't know if Silverlight apps run on Mac/Linux?

A lot of my guitarist buddies are quite a nerdy bunch (there seems to be some sort of correlation between guitarists and IT based jobs). As such, many of them are actively anti-windows people, so many of them are mac and linux users.

So rather than build a windows version, then a mac one. I would urge you towards something platform independent, whether it's flash, java, whatever. Sure, it might be more work initially, but you'll only have to build it once.

You're idea kinda reminds me of the rig illustrations on guitargeek.com. I wonder if there's any milage in dropping them a line. They may be able to assist with images and hosting a web version.

An example of their work:

Silverlight does run on mac - most mac users refuse to install the required plugins though. Mostly because of a snobbish attitude if you ask me. Mac users always ask for multiplatform compatibility but as soon as MS does it they will come up with some poor excuse to not use it. Silverlight is much better than flash and/or js IMO.

Checkout the netflix player and the cover to cover playboy or rolling stone archive done in Silverlight. Very impressive.

I think silverlight will be it so it will work on both windows/mac. Sorry to linux users but I'd like to code to my strengths. Need to look into a place to host this. Hoping to have an early beta before EOY with all these holidays and actual work coming up.

For now it will be with boxes instead of images. Some 'templates' will be available so it's easier to create.

I actually did this one with Paint during a quiet few minutes at work one day. It's pretty rubbish mind you...

Oh, and I don't run things like this anymore.

Tons of stuff :)

This is on silverlight so it will work on PC and Mac. Anyone have a server to host this?

PM Sent re: hosting.

I am currently in the process of designing a new board, so I'll gladly help test too.
