Winter 2017 build off- carbon headless bass

If you don't mind me asking, what did you use for water based color under clearcoat? I'm hoping to finish my bass in 100% water based finishes, haven't found a good source for WB colorcoat available in rattle cans or useable in a Preval sprayer. Some of the WB clearcoat materials are tintable to create opaque colors, but I have no experience with any of it.
 
This is my submission for the Winter-2017 Build off

This build off asked the builder to challenge themselves with things they've never done before. This is my list

-using aluminium tape as mold surface (pivot plate)
-heat curing carbon fiber parts
-using Luminlay side dots
-using Steinberger DB bridge
-CNC-machining parts (headpiece)
-using water based colours under 2-pack clearcoat
-making custom potentiometer that really works

Specs of this build:
Neck and body: Carbon fiber/epoxy vacuum laminated heat cured composite
Fingerboard: Richlite composite
Fingerboard radius: 10 degrees
Scale Length: 34 inches
Tuners/Bridge: Steinberger licenced DB headless, MPU custom headpiece
Pickups: MPU custom P-style
Electronics:MPU Stingray 2-band with custom bass/treble stacked potentiometer
Finish: 2-pack acrylic
Strings: Status double ball end roundwounds

Impressive skills MPU!

Im working on my modulus copy and plan to wrap maple neck with carbon fiber cloth.
Question to MPU, do you recommend to fill the trussrod channel also with cf to get it more stiff?
Will insert 2 carbon rods also!

Thanks for posting this @MPU . I re-read the whole thread three times, and learned a lot.

Would you be willing to share some photos and narrative of the process of molding the body and neck? I’m having a hard time envisioning the one-off body molding process. Is a plug made, then sectioned into two pieces, then molds made from them?
