I have 6 fretlesses........
I actually had the fortune of seeing this post right before my wife asked me what I wanted for Xmas so right now I've got a P-bass kit sitting under the tree. This will give me something to do while I amass the rest of the tools I need to start my Telecaster build.
I did have a question, however. I really like the way your stain looks and I'm thinking of doing something similar. Do you mind me asking what type of stain you used? I haven't stained anything since shop class nearly 20 years ago.

It is becoming a problem.

the bass looks great! this thread is really giving me the itch to try one of these projects...
one question-- do you anticipate any neck dive issues with the body being so light? that doesn't seem to bother some people, but it kinda bugs me.

Did you do any grain filling on this body? Or did you just go with stain?

looking good, reminds me of the fender Pbass lytes they put out a while back.
Just out of curiosity, if the J pickup is single coil, how are you going to blend the 2 pups to try and avoid hum?
I went to my favorite local paint supply and asked for their best and hardest poly in a spray can. Lots of light coats with a light buffing out between coats. I did not put as much on the neck back...I kinda liked it on the lite side.Great finish and you are inspiring me to get around to mine!
I did read most of what you said you finished it with-
What kind of poly for the 20 coats and how did you apply it?
Looks killer!
I hope the neck settles in quickly for you.
