Winter Build off 2018 - Walnut Free For All - Get Ready!

I got my crappy one from Best Bass Gear (also blue-taped), so I can definitely say don't buy one of those.
Did'nt you just have the wrong wrench or something?
I just bought a second batch of 4 rods from BBG
....I dig em!
I like how the socket (nut)...is encased in that stainless cover thing.
The only drawback is you have to route a tiny bit deeper right there because of it.... but as long as I'm not going stupid thin with the neck......
And yes they send a wrench for each. :)

Nope, I tried a few different 4mm hex keys, one from good quality set, one HF set, and tried a couple hardware store Hillman Fastener hex keys, all a loose fit. The socket is just oversized or badly machined. I just got a bad BBG rod, I guess. Haven’t figured out a fix yet. I can adjust the TR, but sooner or later it’s going to strip out on me. I think filing down a 4.5mm might be the best option, if I can find one.

So in an ironic twist of fate...

I took off time from work to do more bass work and specifically, for the build off. This is something I've been looking forward to and my company is really cool about it. My schedule has been very light for a couple of weeks now, so I can get things ready.
But don't you know it, the first 2 days of the build off... I'm scheduled to work!
Too funny.

3 more days. So excited!
I'm guessing come the 21st, we just post our threads like last year and they will get compiled on a master thread?

I've got this and next week off. I am trying to get this sixer done so I can focus on the build off. I have all the wood leaning against the table saw, and I'm working hard to not touch anything until the 21st. I'm pretty excited about my build, it's going to be a unique instrument for sure and will have a few things I've never done before. There are parts that will take me a long time to get done, but I should have enough time, I have to focus on not getting impatient.

Yes, on the 21st I'll be posting the opening of the build off.
Please do not post until I have the opening posted.

I work from home that day, so I'll probably be posting @8am -6 GMT

Guess who is not at all ready for this build off? This guy.

Guess who is excited for it and planning on joining the fun anyway? This guy.

I’ve been so busy with a temporary day job and several commissions in progress that I haven’t even thought about what I’m going to do yet. And I don’t have any walnut yet either. But I don’t care because I love the challenge almost as much as I love walnut sooooo.... I’m (kinda) ready.

Good, it should be up before I am :D That'll give me time to get my post up before I head to work!

On the off chance I feel froggy when I get home, can I start gluing stuff up after midnight Wednesday? I get home at 1:30 AM... don't hold your breath though, lol.
