Well things have been going so well I was due for a screw-up:

Gap in the seam, and it's off kilter; something slipped in the process (I blame those damn 13's). This was my first time gluing up a top like this, so lessons learned. Time for a top-strip to match the back strip! (let's add Alembic to the mix!) Maybe I should consider doing a wood pickup cover while I'm at it.
Recovery plan: Rout the neck pocket first then rout out the channel for the top-strip all the way to the walnut layer, then glue in the top-strip.
Options for the top-strip :
1. Match the back strip with walnut-mahogany-maple-walnut-maple-mahogany-walnut
2. Cut a thin strip of excess quilt and flank it with walnut
3. Thin strip of walnut burl flanked with something else.
4. Something else (hint hint: make a suggestion)
