I could use a couple of those reclaimed cedar beams to build a new fireplace mantle!

Y'all are welcome to drop by and check out the lumber, travel bans and pandemics notwithstanding!

Not sure if it has been done here before, but, any interest in a reclaimed/recycled/repurposed theme?

Like, "this bass is constructed from my great-great-grandmother's rocking chair" or some such?

Totally not suggesting it because I have dozens of feet of reclaimed cedar beams that I want to build a bass out of...

Depending on how things go, this might actually be a great one. If people aren't working and have time plus limited cash flow...Spring Build Off: Pandemic Edition. Use whatever you have sitting around.

I'm trying to imagine a bass made of sponge... 1.5 pounds dry, 23 pounds after Freddy's drooled all over it (variable neck dive of course)

Unbeknownst to Freddy, I incorporated a gasket into the pickguard of the Special-K to prevent water damage to the electronics.

I think the less restrictive the theme, the more participation will happen, and the larger the appeal to onlookers. I dont have any concrete ideas outside of having a single point of inspiration, something like a photo, or painting maybe? The builders would only have to state how they were inspired, but could build anything they wanted based on the inspiration (the lowest pitch stipulation should probably be included...).

Or maybe a function theme like "buckers, no hum allowed!" Builders could make any kind of bass, provided the electronics didn't hum. Traditional dual coils, hidden dummy coils, piezo, midi, whatever, as long as it dont hum.

(If I've used up my pass for naming a build off just let me know and I'll see myself out )

I like this idea; a simple inspired by theme.
