Winter Build Off 2020 - Gamba

Update,

I may be able to save this.

Maybe just fit in a piece of ebony, extend it back into the body a bit, and use that as the mounting point for the strap button.

It's now a "Feature"

For your tearout on the top plate, do you have a router planing jig handy? I've used mine to thickness some absolutely gnarly wood that would have torn out horribly on a planer, and the results were always 100% perfect.

Actually, yes I do. I also have access to a large drum sander, which I'll probably make use of.
Also, I really wanted to make this a carved top, but now it will be a flat top,

Fantastic! :thumbsup:

Are you just going to mortise the top around the block, or... :cigar:
It's a tug bar.

That's one thing I could do. :wacky:
Remember, this is a "Feature" so I need to make the most of it.
Maybe make it a mounting point for an Ebow bracket
Maybe make it an access point for a B bender mechanism
Maybe make it an XLR connect point as @Jon Clegg suggests
Maybe add a swiss army knife attachment.

Just think of the possibilities:bassist::hyper:!
