This headless / headstock design is the same thing that bald-headed skull-tattooed dude over in the UK is doing on his "1 day live build that has taken 5 days so far". You may want to take a peek at what Mr. Crowe has done thus far and then follow along on that bit.
Insider note, I didn't call him a Brit, because he's actually Canadian. Most people don't know that.

I bet it's taken 5 days because of his long sighs, enormous pauses, long times of standing there looking at the camera with nothing substantial going on, and lack of attentive content editing. In several years, I've never made it all the way through a single one of his videos.

This one is taking a long time because he is doing it all by live stream and a lot of the decisions are via live vote. So there's a lot of chatter with the viewers, some polls to decide the next option and all that sort of stuff. Or as he says....shhhtuff. I have NOT been watching the live streams because they've literally been 9 to 10 hours long each time. Luckily they do a "super edit" each week and I just watch that on my other monitor while I'm acting like I'm working.

So far the thing looks horrible (IMO), because committee vote. I was surprised it didn't get named "Guitary McGuitarface".

I assumed he was South African because of his accent.

Hahaha, good guess! So, he had a video last year where he toured the Crimson shop and during that video he said he is Canadian by birth, moved to South Africa at a very young age and was raised there, then settled in the UK. So he admits he is as mongrel as he can be.

One day, I'll build an instrument with sound holes in the shape of an "A", so I can use the word "A-holes" without limits.

Got enough sanding done to glue on the fretboard yesterday.

Today it came out of the clamps and I trimmed it up to the neck shaft. Then I cleaned up the neck heel and pressed it into the neck pocket for a test fit. Body, meet your neck for the first time!

At 33” scale, there is just enough room for a full 24 frets. 22 is usually plenty for me, but I sure don’t mind having the full two octaves. Fender cut the neck pocket fairly shallow, and at an angle, which means that the stand over looks extreme…

…but the geometry actually works out perfectly.

I was so pleased with myself that I immediately started carving the profile…

…forgetting that my standard sequence is to first radius the fretboard and hammer in the frets while the back of the neck is still flat. Oops. Fortunately the flat headstock means I can still clamp it down and do that without any trouble.

Im doing a 16” radius on this, instead of my usual 20”, because the bridge isn’t adjustable for radius (without filing the saddles). My arms are tired, so I’m taking a break…

My shop time could be used as Confirmation of Einstein's theory of Relativity wherein time travels 4 time faster than sitting at my desk at work. Nice work there, and yes, radiusing boards sucks, and I find it really hard to do evenly. I kinda gave up on it and have LMI fret slot and radius my boards, because Im Worthless and Weak. Plus my arms hurt.

My wife would argue that my workshop is more like Schrodinger's cat. She's never sure if I'm still alive or not with as much time as I spend in there.

I'm not sure about the beer either. A place where I can be with myself, nobody else is essential for me. That's why I have the garage... err... shop where I can tinker.

Got the neck profile pretty well done. Still need to dress the fret ends, and do side dots, and drill the headstock for string ferrules. Puddly stuff.

Today I got the route for the tuning block done. I had assumed it was square, but it’s not quite square, so it turned out a little larger than needed. No biggie, it won’t be noticeable after paint.

It’s a fiddly route though, with the front section deeper than the rest, and four holes needed for the four tuning screws, and I still have to drill for the two mounting screws that go in from underneath.

Also a bit of chip-out that will need filler before painting.
