After sanding the final fill coat I made the rear cavity cover. I used masking tape template trick I learned from Edd from Wheeler Dealers.
I have to heat the plate and bend this cap.
Next I have to clean my shop before spraying clear. A lot of vacuum cleaning ahead.
I got the shop cleaned and cavity cover gap closed. Careful, gentle heating with heat gun worked great. I have to buy thinner, degreaser and some pre taped masking film to cover the shop walls and tables before I can start finishing.

After cleaning the snow out of the driveway (2 hours of outdoor activity, I hate snow) I sprayed first coats of clear. Got some horrible runs on the top I have to scrape level tomorrow. Back is looking a lot better. The black burst looks great I think.

Wow thats gorgeous. Love the black burst and exposed weave. Whats the 2k clear like to work with? Are you using a rattelcan type with the button on the bottom? Full respirator I assume?
Respirator for sure, I have 3M full face respirator and coverall. I use spray gun. Whole shop is covered with masking film. Messy job, I don’t like it at all. I made a tent over the guitar to elevate the heat with a radiator. Works fine, it’s almost 20deg C warmer in the tent than in the shop.
Clear coats sprayed. After a couple of days of drying or curing it’s time for sanding and buffing. I’m going to clean the shop later tonight.
Looks absolutely killer. I love the black burst, great to see that you did a burst on the body and headstock as well. How did you apply the narrow burst, some kind of airbrush or a full size spray gun?
I used airbrush and Createx solid black colour.

Sanded to 2000 with wet and dry paper, followed with 4000 Abralon. Lower horn buffed to check there’s no scratches. More buffing on Thursday.
I spent the evening with rags and podcasts. I had to buff most of the guitar by hand. I didn’t want to buff thru the clear from the edges of the curves and non-roundover edges. I may do some more buffing tomorrow but this looks quite good already. I’m hoping to mount at least some of the hardware during weekend. Hopefully it’s not snowing third weekend on the row.
