To just use regular string for checking string and bridge position and generally how everything will line up.
I have some hot pink mason string I'll be using for mine.

I can imagine there's benefit to using a colour that stands out.
Yep, my eyes are going downhill fast.
I need all the help I can get.
This trick will be especially helpful in marking off where my string anchors and saddles will go, since they are individual. I know the spacing relative to each other, but it helps lining it all up in relation to the neck.
Same with a one piece bridge.
Subtlety is your middle name
I like the pink strings, wondering if they come in a 5 string set. Pink string is also a good idea, as it would definitely stand out against the maple neck.
I just happened to have a bunch left over from some site work. But it's cheap, extremely strong and you can find it at any hardware, box store, tractor supply, etc. I think it's $5-7 for 500'. And it's available in a few different high visibility colors. I use it for all kinds of stuff.

Finally found some time to do a bit more work on the build today.
Finished routing the side taper and routed most of the back of the neck flat and to size.
Then I routed the back of the headstock flat.
And finally marked the fingerboard taper and cut that. I can start working on gluing the fingerboard down, sanding the radius, and even work on the back of the neck next time. Then I can start on the body wings.

3 reasons I've used one:
-To adjust the height of the router bit while it's in the sled.
- to shine it from the side and expose scratches while sanding.
- for extra lighting in a pic because what I'm trying to show, won't show up.
- there may be some other reason related to dark magic.
A torch is clearly related to light magic. The dark-magic analog would suck all the light in the area into it when you hit the switch.
